We are a husband wife team looking to switch companies looking for a little help making a decision here. I+We are open to other companies but my wife is only 22yrs old, have a pet small dog, and 1 year OTR. We have read every article here on both and would like to hear suggestions. Oh and our home domicile is NE Ohio. We currently run 8 weeks out and go home for 5 days on average would like to be home more frequently 8 week is getting rough, but at our current company it is the only way we get any miles. Miles are getting harder and harder to come by here though.
I can't say much about shaffer but I did drive for Henderson trucking out of Salem Il. I drove team with my wife and I can tell you if you like to run hard they have the miles for you. I also drove solo for them too and overall they are a decent company! They have good equipment and everyone in the office are very nice. They are very flexible and will bend over backwards to help you. From what I have heard here about shaffer Henderson would be my pick. Good luck!!
I also was living in Akron Oh. when I drove for them. I never had a problem getting home. I'd stay out 3 weeks and take four days off. You'll make more $$$ w/Henderson in my opinion.....
I picked Shaffer simply because I know nothing about Henderson and I have heard that Shaffer is a ok company. This is all second hand info though. Not worth too much!
Pick Henderson I am also a former driver for them also I was a trainer for them until diagnosed with Epilepsy. When I went there I was broke and almost losing my car 6 months later had the thing paid off and money in the bank plus was running more miles than I knew what to do with. As a solo 3400 miles a week at the time were the usual when I became a trainer after I was comfortable with my trainee 5500 or better a week. Also had a beagle in the truck now they have APU's on all their trucks so no Opti Idle.
