Hi All,
Anyone worked or know anything about Heartland Express. I'm located in Maryland and will be attending a community college in Baltimore. Any advice will be appreciated.

I believe you'll need a year of verifiable experience to hire on with them

Yeah, Heartland requires at least 1 year experience. They do seem to pay pretty well, but CPM doesn't always tell the whole story. However, seeing as how they don't accept newbies, they have to be decent outfit to hang on to drivers who can and will go elsewhere.

If the pay is SO good WHY do they recruit on EVERY website and recruiting magazine around ????

That cant be true. No driver would deadhead for free unless he is getting a % for loaded miles, and then for me the deadhead will be at a minimum!
heartless
I worked for them and am glad I do not work with them anymore. Worse company I have worked for. They do not care about their drivers and the dispatchers will tell you. The mileage pay sounds good, but not when you have to sit all day to pick up loads. They do pay same loaded and empty. If you have to sit all day at a customer, you have to fight for detention. They do not call it detention, they call it heartless cares. (yea right) Good luck.
