Most of you know I start school March 5th, been beating my head between 2 companies ... Gordon and Interstate ...
Well this morning I got a call from Gordon. They called to tell me I was accepted and plan on starting right after school. I was all jazzed about it, told my wife and felt like a school kid with a new toy.

15 minutes later I get a call again from Gordon, saying "I'm sorry made a mistake and you don't have the job". When I asked why, the response was because I haven't been working for 2 years. I asked them to take another look at my app. and see that I worked for the same company for 13 years, and the only reason I wasn't working was due to an on the job injury. They (the company I worked for) would not give me medium work so I was forced to claim L&I for the last 2 years. Not that I didn't want to work, but they wouldn't let me work.

Response was... doesn't matter why you were not working, the fact is you didn't work. Call us back after you work for 6 months.

Now I'm scared this is going to happen with all the companies I applied for.

Man, I'm going through the EXACTLY same thing, as I worked for the same company for 21 years, (I'm 43) and was let go because of knee replacement surgery. :roll: Now I have an 19 month lapse of employment on my otherwise great resume. It's funny how 21 years with the same company doesn't matter when you've been off for 18 months? :? I'm scheduled to start heavy Equipment Operators school in 6 weeks, and that's a 10 week course, which will put me right around 2 years off. Maybe we can go into business together,since nobody else seems to want to touch us... :lol:

Wow Glasman, that's a bummer. Maybe its devine intervention! Maybe somebody upstairs has something else in mind for you (Interstate?).

Hang in there. Things usually work out the way they're supposed to. You just never know ahead of time.

Glasman..your in the grand state of WA..and were on L & I....gonna be tough to over come that, especially in WA. Did you file through the state offices..or through one of those "self-insured" providers big companies use? That could hurt to..the "self-insured" crap.

I suggest you look towards Idaho..Andrus in Idaho Falls, Giltner in Jerome, Motors West in Caldwell, Montana Express in Twin Falls. You might find something good with any one of them. You could also try Simplot in Heyburn.

The L&I was through Washington state, not the company.
I just don't get it... I busted my butt for 13 years for my last company, and because I was recovering for the last 2 years, they make me feel like I'm a loafer. It's not like I didn't want to work, heck... after I hurt myself I kept working for 9 months to finish a big job I was running. I'm TIRED of not working. A man can only do so much work on his house while he trying to recover at the same time. And yes I told L&I everything I was doing on my house, from minor roofing, replacing windows and doors, painting the outside, and a lot of work on the inside. I didn't want someone taking a photo of me working around the house and say I was trying to fraud the state.

Worked a few hours, rested a few hours. L&I knows I'm not a loafer!!
I did talk to Interstate, and they said they didn't "THINK" it would be a problem, guess time will tell.

TSI gave me the run around, so I'm sure they will say the same thing Gordon did. May said they didn't "THINK" it would be a problem.

Just love that word THINK :roll:

Anyways... School got pushed back 3 weeks due to paper glitches with L&I, tho they are working with me not against me. It just happens sometimes.

As far as Gordon goes.... they showed me their true colors, I didn't want to wash their trucks anyways, freaking bucket and a brush.
