Default May Trucking has anyone worked for them

They have a terminal in my hometown. My spot at Maverick is about a month or two away. I'd like to make some money in the mean time. Any pros or cons about this company?

thanks

If you are not a newbie and have experience they are a good company! I am not sure how the miles are. I heard they got very bad for a few drivers over there. My husband worked with them for about three weeks. We have a thread of his whole ordeal over there. Overtheroad also worked there but there were some issues and miles where one of them. Cranky worked there also for them. The only person I know that is still with them is Iceman and he did have some issues with them in the beginning and then miles where also an issue until he got in the lease program.

No matter how good a company is if they don't have the miles it will hurt.

I went to orientation in October 2006 in Layton, UT. Their operation seems a little shakey, lots of new staff in every department. They issue their older trucks to new hires no matter how much experience. Their 2007 PB 387 are OO spec and are very nice if you are lucky enough to get one. While waiting for my 1st load, their HQ in Brooks decided not to hire me and dropped me cold, even getting a bus ticket home was tough. Seems like left hand doesn't know what left is doing (plus lots of new staff) so be sure to get some good connections first and everything in writing.

Seems like this time of year there's lots of people complaining about miles. In the past, I've talked to MTC driver's. They all had good things to say about the Co. Lately I've seen more, and more negative comments about them. Could this be a result of the lack of miles? I don't know. I do know that I personally would not consider hiring on to a company till after the freight picks up. My $.02 worth

I think there just goin through some growing pains, Hiring alot of drivers an ordering trucks but not building up the freight base. Also the whole Dry or 11 western division is out of one terminal thats in Brooks, The other 3 terminals are reefer.

Default May Trucking

I quit my job in July and was looking for the "perfect job". I decided that my old job was the best one that I could find. However, everyone told me that if I didn't get out of a Training Company that I wouldn't be hired by other Trucking Companies.

I have to tell you that I was hired by 10 different companies. One of those 10 was May Trucking. I almost went there; however, when they told me that I would have to chain in the west and do reefer if I go outside the 11 Western. I thought, "oh hell no!"

I don't want to be told that I would have to chain. There's no way that I want to do reefer either. I think it's more responsibility for the same pay so I didn't want to do that either.

I know someone that works for May and is very happy. Those are the two reasons I didn't go. Crete is also good. They give you a choice of 3 loads when you take something. That doesn't happen in many other companies from what I hear. They also pay 5 cents per mile more when you go 48 states instead of 11 Western.

Hey Crankyazz,

Hi,buddy! Iused to drive for Knight. Which terminal are you out of with Knight? And who is your dispatcher? I was out of SLC and Corey was my dispatcher and my hero! Am currently with DATS trucking now, learning line-haul and being home every night. Have a safe trip, my friend.

Are you friggin serious? You didn't even get $650 a week at May?
That's pretty damn scary. I thought I was getting the shaft where I'm at.
I'm only bringing in $600.00 a week at my current local gig. I know this Is lame.
