Default Experiences with Star Transport in Morton, Ill.

I've been pre-hired by Star Tranport in Morton, Illinois. Anybody on here have any experiences to share about Star?

I started out with Star. I never had any problems with them, nice trucks, great home time, little low on the pay. Starting out they are a good place to start, i'm sure there are better company's than Star but you have to get your feet wet with someone. I still know and talk to several of Star drivers that I went to driving school with, they are happy with Star.

Let me know if you have any other questions, ben

I've been looking at other forums and I'm finding a hard time finding negatives about Star Transport. I should have done better research before ever going to Swift. Hopefully, my second chance will go well.

Never drove for them and never will.

While they now have double bunk 387 Pete's they used to run single bunk 377 Pete's. When there was a trainee on the truck the trainer was issued a plank with a cut out for the gear shift for the student to sleep on.

I refuse to work for a company that ever took such a view of their drivers.

Rumor has it the only reason for going double bunk is that they were made to by the IL DOT, and were also seriously fined because of this.

My first driving job was with Star Transportation. I have never heard from 1 person that was issued a plank to sleep on, yet ever talk to a person that was forced to sleep on the floor. Star will put you in a hotel if you and your trainer stay somewhere overnight, while I was in training we stayed in a hotel 4 nights during a 3 week period of time. During the weekends you stay in a hotel in your trainer's home town.

I am still in contract with my trainer and another driver that still drives for Star and both have new trucks and they don't have double bunks? I also find it very hard to believe they had a driver that was out for months unless they wanted too. I never spent 1 weekend in my truck while I was with them, they got me home every weekend.

Default Star Transport

I hope it goes better for you. My husband worked for them for three months. We almost lost everything. The most miles he ever received was 1900 miles in one week. He begged for miles even offered to stay out instead of coming home. The trainers had plenty of miles and pay. Hope you get a dedicated run.
