Companies only hire drivers from areas where they have customers, or that live along some major freight lanes. They generally do not care if you are willing to drive 50 or 500 miles to the nearest terminal and then back home again as your hometime comes around. They do not want their drivers worn out by the time they report for work and they know that sooner or later that is going to get old for the driver and s/he is going to be begging to take the rig home and then the company has added expense for fuel, maintence, etc that they would not have if they kept their drivers within the areas where they do the most business.
This applies if you have 0 experience or 25 years experience, and in many cases this also applies for O/O's too.
