If you go to fred's website pictures of the new day cabs you could see what I am talking about. The picture from straight on shows how much light shows through even with the headache rack on. I also was not aware that they use enclosed racks. Most people around here have the ones with the windows in the center. It was just a idea. I have always had them. You don't get glare off of the guages running away from the sun during the day, and it does keep the cab a little cooler in the summer.
Yeah I see it now. I can also imagine sun from the right angle shining off the chrome headache rack and into the cab. A good pair of sunglasses will be required at least. 8) Originally Posted by Jumbo

Hello ALL!!
This is a great site!! I've been spending quite a bit of time looking around here. I'm in the process of deciding if I'm going to make a career change.
9/11 wrecked the aviation industry. Job security is not what it used to be. I'm only 32 so I think now may be good time to make a move.
TMC has a tough grip on my interests. I'm not so much interested in the shiny chrome but more so with security and future growth. FlatbedFred is giving me a hand and my thanks go out to you.
I'll keep all posted and thanks for accepting me into the community here.
Great day ALL

This is an excellent site. The TMC thread is usually pretty cool, we tell it like it is and don't sugar-coat anything.Originally Posted by dc3plt

I have a few comments for you FWIW.
Be sure that trucking and specifically flatbedding is where you want to be. There is good and bad to it. Hate to see anyone make a move without some careful thought.
As to security and future growth. Right now things are great in trucking and specifically the flatbed end of it. Things could change. There is a conflict as to whether or nor there is truly a driver shortage. If there is, all will be great. As the economy goes, so does freight, and so will our incomes and security. Flatbedding is a mostly buiding materials. I often wonder what would happen if the housing market truly tanked.
As to being accepted here. Remember what W.C Fields said, "I would never belong to any club that would have someone like me as a member." Just kidding...good luck.

Von, keep your fingers crossed that the rates keep going back down and then stay down. As long as they are low, housing and other buildings will continue to go up everywhere in this country.
