Notwithstanding your insult to my lack of fitness concerns.... YOU were talking about GRAMS per pound of body weight.... but you didn't SAY grams! :lol: I thought you meant eating your BODY WEIGHT in protein (which is what you SAID!) :lol:
From what LITTLE I know, the reason this works for you is that Protein feeds or enhances your metabolism, which causes you to burn fat! It also gives you ENERGY! So, when I say I eat a few steaks on the road, it's because it provides the protein needed to kick up my metabolism and give me energy. This helps me stay AWAKE! It may also help me keep my weight down.
Also..... you indicated that you ate about 4-5 times a day. This has been PROVEN to be a better way to eat than just once or twice a day (like I do!) Reason being, that when you only eat once a day, your body senses a "starvation" mode, and stores the necessary proteins in FAT CELLS, for later use! This is why many get fat, by "starving themselves." (see... I DO know a few things.) :lol:
Personally, I have NEVER been overweight, and I have ALWAYS eaten just one or two meals a day. I just don't overdo it, and I try to stay active. I have a bit of a "belly," but it's a beer belly! Storing up that PURE protein for when the store runs out! :wink:
I'm a person that is easily irritated by "have to's" and "should do's." I KNOW what is good for me.... but I just don't like to be bothered! I'm not gonna eat 5 "small meals" a day, because.... I don't like having to "feed the bodily funtions!" It's an irritation for me! I eat when I get hungry! And, I only get hungry once a day! :shock: :lol:
I'm DULY impressed by what you have done for yourself. And only slightly smug in the fact that I never let myself GET overweight in the FIRST place! :wink:
But, I DO believe people have different metabolic rates, and I've been lucky! I may not be "ripped" like you..... but I don't have to be bothered by counting GRAMS of protein, or calories of soda! :roll:
BTW..... how tall are you? I'm not a BIG man, by any stretch! I'm 5'11" if I hold my chin up! Most men are much bigger "boned" than I am! And there's no doubt that MANY truckers are WAY TOO big for their OVERSIZED britches!!
All this talk of health and diet is GOOD for many of you who NEED it! And, I only poke a bit of fun now and then. It IS important to watch your health in this career field, but it only BARELY applies to me. I will die from smoking cigs, or drinking beer, but NOT from diabetes or other WEIGHT issues! And I'll die when it is my time!
I sometimes have a baked potato instead of fries, and occaissonally eat chicken instead of meat. But, I will eat what I want, WHEN I want, and I am prepared to suffer the consequences IF and WHEN they come!
