Unkut2003:
I can not even begin to tell you about the times that I've been so brash and foolish to think that I've got things all figured out, only to have what I hoped would be a blessing come crashing down around me.
Believe it or not, there have been times when unexpected delays may well have saved my life, or saved my a$$.
Just one example was back in the early 1990's when my wife and I had bought some land between San Antonio, Tx., and a smaller town called Seguin, Tx. which is about 20 miles east of The Alamo Town.
Not that it is of any relevance to this matter, but Seguin, Texas was the first town in The State of Texas to accept delivery of a motorized fire truck!!....no foolin!!
I'm a born and breed city boy, but I've always wanted to live in the country. I also wanted to have a fishing pond close to by back door. The Texas Hill Country is too rocky, so we decided to look to the east. Back in the 1990's, we bought some land that we were getting ready to build our dream home on.
We ran into trouble from the start; one building contractor we were going to use had a severe heart attack. Another one went belley up. The third one blew smoke. My wife kept changing her mind about what she wanted........then, I found out that we had a beby on the way.
Well, I was smart enough to know that trying to build a house and bake a baby wasn't a wise choice, so we put everything on hold.
After my daughter was born, it was good to be closer to town if we needed something late at night, which tends to happen with a newborn.
Well, by the Fall of 1998, we received a VERY attractive offer on the land and we decided to sell. The deal went off without a hitch. I was bummed out, but the offer was just too good to refuse.
Three Weeks and One day after we closed on the sale of the land, The 500 Year Flood hit South Texas. The land where we had planned to build our "Dream Home" was underwater. The bridge that we crossed to get to it was GONE!!
Now, I'vew always said "The Good Lord watches out after children and fools, and Lord knows, I ain't no child"!!
Even though it seems as if the bird of good fortune has just bombed you. it may well be that The Heaven's have this whole thing figured out a whole lot better than you do. As Fozzy suggested, stay in touch, and find out when you will become eligible for hire.....look, they thought enough of you to offer you a "dream job", so it may be an option before too long.
Anyway, keep your chin up!!
