Same progression I went through. Uturn is right. On downshifting, try clutching out, and slipping in. In no time, you'll figure out how to bump things so you never have to wear out your left leg touching the damn clutch.
The last road test I did, I didn't touch the clutch, and the anal retentive clipboard holder dude didn't blink, because I didn't grind the gears.
Personally, I'm in favor of floating 99.99% of the time, and I almost never touch the clutch except to stop. There are exceptions though. Knowing the exceptions is what makes you a supertrucker like me. Whoop whoop.
