I have the vortox style air cleaners with the long center rod that holds the top hat in place. And if Im not mistaken, I believe Fleetguard will assume the warranty on any engine that fails because of their product being defective.
Case in point: I could put Synthetic oil in my truck right now if I wanted to. Chances are, it wouldn't cause any problems. But if it did, my warranty would be void. And I doubt the manufacturer of the oil will pay for the parts and labor on the engine.
In fact, I go so far as to only use OEM recommended parts and fluids as well. Better to be safe than sorry.
