Let me spell it out for you in a very simple way that someone like yourself can understand:
He shows up at the terminal.
He gets his bills.
He gets in his truck.
He drives to another terminal.
He drops, hooks to another trailer or set.
Then he drives back to his home-20.
So please explain how he's considered an independent contractor.
