I think you are confusing I70 with the PA Pike. The Pike has the longest on and off ramps in the state.( Limited access, with 1,200-foot-long entrance and exit ramps to provide plenty of distance for accelerating and decelerating.) That is the way it was designed, so you can build up speed or slow down without distrubting traffic.
Now, I70 from New Stanton to the WV line, LEFT LANE ALL THE WAY!

This is an extremely bad idea, especially with the new law PA recently passed. The new law basically states that if you are coming up to an on ramp where you see people coming down the on ramp, you have to move over to the left hand lane as long as there are no other cars beside you.

In this scenrio, the truck driver would get nailed either way, because there would be no way the driver could stay legal.

No cars around the truck. The truck is coming up to an on ramp where there are cars going on the trunpike. There is a cop near the on ramp. The cop could give the trucker a ticket if the trucker no matter which lane the trucker decides to go in. He he disobeys the move over law, he gets a ticket for obeying the law to stay in the right hand lane. If he disobeys staying in the right hand lane, he gets a ticket for not moving over for the people coming off of the on ramp.

I really could see some traffic lawyers having a feild day with this. This senator better think long and hard about what he is doing, and how it relates to the other PA traffic laws.

5 miles under current speed limit is stupid. It will cause more accidents than prevent them. I did the speed limit on the PA turn pike, and I got passed like I was sitting still.

It is very easy to solve this problem. Stay off the PA turnpike. I traveled it a few months ago due to a snow storm. It cost more than $20 for only a few miles. That was the first time I have been on it in years. That was enough for me. There is always an alternate route you can use rather than taking a toll road.
