I think that Obama and his administration, which includes the fmcsa, are trying to hit us with so many different things at the same time that we become disoriented and overwhelmed wo that we are not aware of what they are doing until it is a done deal. Perhaps it is time to shut down and defund the fmcsa. Yea.....I like that idea!!!

They want the owner operators gone, plain and simple, only want the ones who lease to a carrier, so the carrier is in CONTROL. Its all about CONTROL

Next thing will be older trucks and emissions............watch and see, they will take the Cali approach.....

i got a email weds? that they're trying to put the log laws back into effect with the 2 nights off between 1-5am. they are trying to hurt the small carriers/O/O. it takes nothing for swift or one other big company to run a truck even 50 miles and swap and go with another driver. this is a scary time.

Rob, my thoughts are they are trying to run the O/O's out of buisness entirely, this is how they will fix the so called driver shortage, they figure get us out of OUR trucks and into THEIRS

I got news for them, most, if not ALL of us would rather clean the stables than work for them........

Well, two years is a long time, let's not jump a gun. No doubt in my mind, eventually it's going to happen, and some of us going to have to deal with it.

If we can start electing true conservatives to legislative office and to the presidency, we might start to see some sanity return to this industry. No regulations should be implemented without having to prove the necessity. If that was the case, we would see very few new regulations.

We do a lot of complaining, as a group. But, how many are willing to write a comment on proposed legislation. How many are willing to write, email or call their representatives about proposed legislation that will directly affect them and this industry? How many really check out candidates before voting. How many even bother to vote, period? How many are willing to write a check to support the candidate that most represents their view and values? Better yet, how many truckers are willing to run for office themselves? If we are ever going to make inroads into all the insanity of over regulation, we will need to make an effort to become more involved in the political process. It is one thing to complain, but another to become active. The way most of us work, it is easy to make excuses for NOT being involved. But, we absolutely must become more active as a group. It doesn't take but a few minutes to send an email or make a phone call to our representatives. If enough of us would do that small bit, it could make a huge difference in what we see in Washington. If you think about it, there are between 3 to 5 million drivers in this nation. That is a lot of people and could be a strong political force. We are coming into what could be the most important year for our country in our lifetimes. We can choose to sit idly by and watch things happen, or get involved and help to steer things in the right direction. It seems a simple choice for me.

There's so much back dealing and people with wealth, I don't think contacting "our" reps is even useful. They represent the people that keep them in office. The Super Pacs etc.

I keep saying, maybe not here, but all it would take is every Swift driver (the largest truckload carrier in the country) to quit. All of us with more than one truck would hire them and that would be that. It's a lot easier to get 13,000 to take action than try and 3 to 5 million. I myself would hire 5 of them with a written guarantee that they make more than they are making now. Take the head off and the body would crumble.
