Do you run PA a good bit Rev? If so there is a truck show in Carlisle, PA in August I think, I'll have to check on the date, but if you decide to show your truck that's a fun one. I went last year for the first time and I am definitely going back this year.

I drive past Carlisle quite a bit. So far, I'm contemplating the Waupun and Green Bay truck shows, just to test the waters.

I've never been,but I have heard the St. Ignace show is real good too. It's usually sometime in Sep.

Rev, Keep an eye on the areas where they are applying the red putty (its used to fill small dings and scratches, it helps speed up the removal so they don't have to feather sand all the small dings). It tends to shrink and leave small pits in the surface that won't be seen untill there is a clear coat applied. After the clear coat you will see them especially on a dark color.
I prefer a two part epoxy primer/filler, it's more stable and fills without shrinking.
If these guys are into hand sanding before painting, they will probably not make a mistake,...but just to give you a heads up,...some guys skimp on one process and some guys on others.

Are they going to wetsand afterwards as well? Probably not, as this won't have a ton of clear.

I agree, I've never heard of wet block sanding on a truck,..but maybe they do it. If they wet sand before the base, they will still have to wet sand and buff the clear. Unless they have a bada$$ paint booth that keeps all the debris off the truck.
There should be 3 coats of base and 3 clear.

I have seen them wet sanding smaller parts. I'm not sure if they wet sand the entire truck. I believe they do wet sand on the clear (I've seen them doing that).

They have 2 of them. Completely sealed off to the outside world and large enough to accommodate a big truck with room to spare.

Most shops sand and buff the clear,..it's very difficult to keep debris out of the final coat. Even the very newest downdraft paint booths still have some debris end up in the finish. Thats ok, because they wet sand the last coat and then buff, leaving you about 2.5 coats of epoxy clear, which is plenty for years of protection.
The only paint booth I ever saw that was almost 100% debris free was a booth built by a restoration shop in NY. I worked there for a few years, we maintained a collection of show cars for people who had waaaay too much money.
