I'd just have a few things fixed and get the body shop to cut you a refund check for part of it. They'd be glad to do it for you considering how large the repair is.

A little extra jingle in the pocket is always good.

trucks white right?

paint the fenders burgundy, paint the tanks burgundy and chrome the straps, run 9 inch round lights with flipped 359 brackets, get that bumper you posted, shave the horns off the roof and the cab lights.

How do you get a ticket for having LED's? I thought they were a good thing to have? What they gonna ticket you next for, riding on the floor?

I think it was because the marker lights weren't clearly visible to the naked eye.

no_worries 11-30-2007 02:53 AM

I know I'd look into some of the custom hoods. Some of those outfits have come up with some interesting designs. I've seen some that have great original styling and are more efficient both in terms of drag and heat dissipation. I'm thinking of looking into one for no good reason

No party pooping in this thread jonboy. No fiscal responsibility either. :D

Rev.Vassago 11-30-2007 03:14 AM

Fiscal responsibility went out the door. Just finished at the body shop. Here's how he's writing it up right now. This is still just a plan, though:

http://www.worthless1000.com/fenders.jpg
http://www.worthless1000.com/headlights.jpg

LaSalle fenders with 41 Chevy headlights

http://www.worthless1000.com/grill.png

Louver style grill with painted grill surround - badges shaved and custom made grab handle

http://www.worthless1000.com/bumper.png

20" American Eagle bumper

http://www.worthless1000.com/visor.png

Dropped BowTie painted visor - painted mirror brackets

http://www.worthless1000.com/rearfender.png

Custom made Mafia full fender (basically 2 of the half fenders welded together and painted blue)

Horns shaved off roof, replaced with 2 extra marker lights

Some possibilities for other changes that will be explored if money allows:

-Ghost flames
-Painted Tanks
-Exhaust pipes
-Painted wheels

RostyC 11-30-2007 04:07 AM

I like it all, it'll look sharp. Post some pics when you're done.

It was a pleasure helping you spend your money! :D
Painted wheels is interesting, I don't think I've ever seen that.
I'm a little jealous, I can't wait to do mine.
Truckdobe would have been fun on this thread, but I ain't seen them lately.

mike3fan 11-30-2007 05:59 AM

I wish I could catch the guy in Michigan and take a picture of his truck painted all flat black including his wheels and 10" stacks, not my cup of tea but defintely interesting

geomon 11-30-2007 07:24 AM

Nice looking truck Rev!! I like everything except for the drop down visor....why DECREASE visibility?? Ya gotta almost sit on the floor to see out and even then what you see doesn't seem to be much.

Where I sit I cant see my hood and that visor still wouldn't block any sun,you would have plenty of vision, personally I don't like the "bowtie" but on some trucks it looks ok.

brian 11-30-2007 07:36 AM

pete owners sit on the floor anyways 8)

RostyC 11-30-2007 07:48 AM

Brim of the hat and a pair of shades is all you'll see. 8)

Jackrabbit379 11-30-2007 09:04 AM

I drive a 9200i International, and I sit on the floor. :P

Rev, I like the mafia fenders. Chrome ones (or stainless?) are nice, but I also have seen some that are the same color as the truck, and they also look nice.

The other night, I saw a Condo Freightshaker with mafia fenders. I wanted to get on the radio, and tell him that it was still a Freightliner. :P

You'd be surprised how little it will decrease visibility. Anything is better than what I have right now, which doesn't block the sun worth a crap. I despise my current visor. I have a tendancy to have my seat aired up as high as it will go (due to long friggin legs). Time will tell if I need to change the way I sit.

I was warned that ghost flames are gonna be terribly expensive to do. Lots of prep time involved in them, apparently. I may skip the flame job and go with painted tanks, which is something I'd much rather have (and would add more to the truck, in my opinion). We'll see once the estimate comes in.

Kranky 11-30-2007 11:45 AM

Rev, why are you taking it to Milwaukee to have this done?

There are body shops up here that could do the stuff you want done.

Tim's Body Shop, just east of Appleton does a lot of custom sh*t.

Mackman 11-30-2007 11:58 AM

oh yea one more thing REV. for the inside you have to get the 2 shifters. :P

rank 11-30-2007 12:17 PM

ya ya ya ya ya.

2 shifters that reach to the roof. tinted glass. white letter super singles. and suicide doors.

This is the same shop that has done work for me in the past. I am impressed with their work. I'm sure I could get it done closer to home, but I'd prefer to work with someone I have worked with before.

Everything I'm doing right now is exterior work. Nothing on the inside. But yes, if and when the time comes that I do stuff to the interior, double shifters will be installed.

I'll keep my blue and white lettered tires, thanks. 8)

Suicide doors will have to wait.

RostyC 11-30-2007 11:59 PM

I really like that rear fender and the price seems decent. I've pulled it up on 4 state half a dozen times now, that's not good.

Have you played around with the headlights at all Rev?
I'm wondering what they might look like if the light appeared to set back a little in the casement (for lack of a better word). Or something along the lines of an eyebrow, molded and painted to appear as one unit.

This is going to be one sweet Pete. How long are they going to have it? Post your pics the same day you get it out? What color are you painting the grill frame?

As do I. I am really curious how it will look as a full fender. I'm considering doing something with a 2-tone on the fenders. Maybe some white trim along the edge of all the fenders.

Here's what the headlights look like on a 41 Chevy Master:
http://www.worthless1000.com/41.jpg

I might have them set into the fender a bit more than that, though. Basically create a recess in the fender where the headlight tucks into.

They were estimating 9 days for the whole job. the grill frame will be the same white as the hood. As soon as I get my camera cable, I'll upload some before pics.

I managed 11 years before I hit my first deer. I'll take those odds, especially since I spent the first 6 years in the heart of deer country.

Those are good odds and some times you dont hit the deer, the deer hits you. I'm pulling a hood and bumper Monday where one hit right front bumper, it was drivers first time, he was shaken up pretty bad. I just laughed at him, and told him to calm down. Nobody got hurt and maybe Bambi had a death wish.

Rev.Vassago 12-01-2007 04:58 AM

Thats pretty much what happened to me. She turned around and clipped my corner on the front drivers side.

RostyC 12-01-2007 05:32 AM

When it comes to those lights you can get just about anything in after market parts nowadays, LOAD IT. You can build an entire classic car if you want.

I've been hit by a few deer, I've never hit one. One was really strange, it was early in the morning bout 4:30 or 5. I came up on a stop sign, there was a couple cars in front of me. There sat a house on the corner to my left. When I stopped I just happen to look to my left and there's a buck standing about thirty feet away. He was standing in the yard, and wasn't far from the house. I thought it was a freaking lawn ornament or something, then he lowered his head and charged my truck, smacked the the rear panel and dropped to the ground. Before I could get my hand to the latch to open the door he got up and took off. Almost new Toyota pick up (1990 I think), had to replace the rear panel.

Before you guys ask what I would've done if I had got out, I don't know really. I do know if he'd a got up after I got out of the truck I would've probably ran! I'm not afraid to run.

Jumbo 12-01-2007 11:49 AM

What about adding one of those Herd of North America deer killing bumpers? You could paint it to match rest of truck.

I considered that, but it would have ruined the look of the truck.

I have seen this on Truckpaper inside some custom trucks advertising an 18 speed, I assume it is not the old duplex transmissions just some kind of relocation of the splitter and range switches. Anybody know how it is done, or is there a kit online?

It is a relocation of the range switch. I'm not sure where you can get them. I've been looking at all the big names, and can't seem to find them.

Your money would be better spent on therapy although what you have won't come close to what you really need.

I don't have to be invited, just like you don't have to be invited here. The difference, however, is that you simply came here to spout off a personal attack that had nothing to do with anything, whereas when I come into your thread, at least I contribute something of value, whether you like it or not.

So my suggestion to you is: Grow up. Act like an adult. Stop with the personal attacks.
