I also use a % fuel cost to gross, on a weekly, monthly, and yearly bases.
I consider 20%-excellent, 25%-good, 30%-fair, and anything below that-poor business practice. You either burning to much fuel, or hauling too "cheap!" For example;- fuel/gross-$1,000/$5,000-excellent, $1,000/$4,000-good, $1,000/$3,000-surviving... :) The above examples, for dry box, long and medium haul, at about current fuel prices! |
