Hey Steve, I have a question for ya. This sounds silly, but I think I heard you last night on Blue Collar 103. A lot of times, they have, "My name is Joe Blow, and I love Blue Collar 103, etc." in between the comedians. Well, I heard, "Steve, from Merrimack, New Hampshire." Was that you? Are you a celebrity? :P

lol...No, it wasn't me. I was in la la land at 6pm as always.

Ahh ok. Didnt think so, but it was a shot. :P

Man, I just spent all freaking day putting lights in my air cleaner. What a pain as is everything. I got my whole truck frame, 5th wheel and engine steam cleaned and it came out great.
I bought a new mattress for my truck and was convinced to buy one for $300 instead of the last one which I paid less than $200 for. I went to a different place and he cut open my old mattress. It was made out of a little bit of foam and Styrofoam to add support. It couldn't be turned over either, it was only one sided. The new one can be flipped. My truck goes in tomorrow to get the new muffler put on, front wheel oil hub cover and a few other minor things. I got a call a while ago and my Rigmaster gets installed next Tuesday up in Vermont. It's going to take a day and a half so I'll be checking into a hotel. The dealer has a deal with them so I get a cheaper rate plus the dealer gives me a car to drive. I'm hoping to get my truck back from the shop by the end of the day tomorrow. I still need to get trailer tires put on and a storage box installed. I leave on Friday next week to move my mother and the two weeks I'll have been home seems to go real quick trying to get everything done that I want too. |
My muffler and muffler shroud were installed yesterday and the truck is back to normal after it's run in with that bolder. The place I brought it to is a small shop that was recommended by the construction company where I park my truck.
I've come to the conclusion that for someone new like myself, it just takes time for you to make your contacts. You hear about everyone else on here saying how you should have done this or that or gone here instead but it requires that you come up with your own contacts in your own back yard. I happened to be getting my car washed and the shop does auto detailing and steam cleaning engines. I just asked about him doing my truck and bingo, sparkling clean truck frame and engine for $80.00. The automotive shop that will attempt to do anything they can like drilling the 3/4" holes in my trailer for my chain hangers. The Midas muffler shop who said, sure bring the truck in. We can purge your A/C, check for leaks and refill for $99.00. And now the small diesel shop I just had my work done at. They actually found a few extra things that I had fixed also like my clutch was WAY out of adjustment. These were things that should have been fixed by the dealer when I had my level II PM done. It was on the checklist along with the level of coolant which they did nothing about even though it needed 2 gallons. I asked the owner of the place if when I bring my truck in the next time for a PM can they take a personal interest in my WHOLE truck. It was obvious that there was an owner but the 2 mechanics just didn't work for him, they were all a team and not just a couple of robots. I had to walk about 3 miles in each direction yesterday to bring my truck in and pick it up. Both times required aspirin after. Living in a small town does not offer the luxury of a taxi. I brought my truck home then proceeded to clean all the grease off the trailer in preparation of my Teflon washer. I brought down a piece of Plexiglas and used the straight edge to scrape the grease off. What a messy job. 2 cans of Gunk and 36 shop rags from Walmart and I was done. No more greasing the 5th wheel or globs of grease all over my frame, truck and trailer. It's off to the tire center this morning for 4 new tires on my trailer. One of the tires is in real good shape but that will go back into my spare tire carrier. I want all my tandems to be matched tires from this point on. They wear so fast if they aren't. The truck store is a mile from the tire center so I'll be picking up a 60" box on my flatbed to bring back home. That gets installed on Monday. After I get home today I need to get that storage box that holds my chains off the truck so that will probably be a pain. I need to make room for my Rigmaster. So I get my box installed on Monday then off to Vermont early Tuesday morning to get my APU installed Tues and Wed. Back home then Thursday will be spent buying plastic storage boxes to put all my stuff in that will go in the new trailer box. On Friday I fly to Kentucky to move my mother to Florida. Fly back home, take a few days to get my act together them back on the road. And that should be it for the winter. I think I'm all set. |
Steve, what's a level II pm? I was looking in the owners manual and they had all this stuff that I have no clue as to what it is that needed to be lubed and I'm not sure if that is done with a regular PM. When I got the PM the other day at the TA I got the ultimate.
