with 5 speeding tickets in 2 years? I' don't know what I'm going to do with that hubby of mine if he gets another speeding ticket......lol. He really did it this time, he had his own authority and that didn't go so well so now he's looking to get back in but this driving record is not helping.

I posted another forum so I hope it's ok that I post again here.

He is going to have a difficult time finding a carrier who will take him one with that type of driving record. It sounds to me as though he isn't taking this profession seriously. I have over 35 years experience and don't have any moving violations. In other words I don't have any speeding tickets. I keep my foot out of the throttle and manage my time so I am not killing myself. If he plans on staying in this business he is going to have to start treating it like a business. If he can't perhaps he needs to find something else to do which will not require him to drive. :?

His only option may be to get his own authority and pay out the nose for insurance. Why he never fought any of the tickets shows he's not serious about his driving record.

He did fight and pay the tickets. We are alittle confused as to why they are still listed as speeding? We have a friend that said that he could call the counties where he got the tickets and let them know that he can't work and ask them to open and review the cases and maybe the DA's will do something. I don't know but I guess it's worth a try. Trust me, the whole thing about not taking the job seriously is a talk that I have had with him over and over again but the lead foot always got the best of him. I told him that it would come back to bite him in the "a.." and know he knows.

He had his own authority and that was a nightmare, we didn't handle that well at all and the money just was not there. At least where he is now, he brings home a paycheck, it's just not enough. When he had his own authority, his money paid for fuel and repairs. It was just bad timing with the truck.

I just thought there would be places that he might go. The last place he went, he was able to get his own insurance and pay it but most places want you to use theirs.

Don't waste your time trying to get cases re-opened. Not being able to find work is not a valid reason and no D.A. will consider your request. If he paid the tickets then he lost the case and that's why they're on his record. He's only one ticket away from losing his license anyway, sounds like it's only a matter of time. You both would probably be better off expending your effort looking for a different line of work for him.

He made his bed and now has to sleep in it,unfortunately so do you. It is tough to be in that position as a driver with multiple tickets,pretty much career ending. My best advice is to get a non driving job and ride it out until the tickets drop off his record & hubby matures a little then look at trucking again. Next time put a rock under the fuel pedal.

When I drove a cab in 2002 dec-2003 august I I recieved 3 tickets(1 accident 2 speeding) with 5 points.This trippled the insurance on my personal car.I got my CDL in NOV 2004 with those points and most companies were willing to sign me on.Don't discourage her, it is possible if they really need you.

Most insurance companies won't cover anyone with more than 3 or 4 moving violations within 3 years. Depending on the speed, one could knock a driver out of a job. I don't know of any insurance company who will hire a driver with more than 4 violations. His record shows that he is careless and is an accident waiting to happen. A truck is not a race car.

This is kinda funny, cuz back in the 70's, no one did under 90 and this wouldn't be an issue.... :lol: :lol: :lol:
