You would be better off buying a good used trailer rather than renting one. You will find that most trailer rental companies will charge around $150-165/month plus a mileage charge. That is for a flat bed. I can't tell you about vans, however I would think the numbers would be similar. At least when you buy a trailer you will have it paid off and have some equity in something. If you rent, you have nothing to show for all the money you put in to it. If you rent, you may have to either put up a deposit or something like first and last payment, if you do a lease. I haven't checked on renting a trailer for some time, but the numbers I gave should be in the ball park. There are several companies who rent trailers. Xtra lease and TIP are two companies that come to mind. Some of the trailer dealers may also rent trailers. You might check with Wabash, Great Dane, etc., dealers in your area. Some may require a certain amount of finds in the bank before they will rent a trailer to you. As I said, it has been some time but, when I last checked one company told me that I would need $20,000 in the bank before they would rent me a trailer unless I had an established corporation.
