I'll tell you my story. It was my first week on a mentor's truck, think you all know i sat in a Wal-Mart DC while he took 5 days of hometime. I had an abcess, no insurance, and finally went inside, and one of the guys said thats what it looked like, and that it can be deadly. He was nice enough to drive me to the local hospital (at 2a) and they gave me two shots, and a couple perscriptions which i picked up at the Wal-Mart. I told them i was a truck driver, and needed documentation showing i could take the perscription drugs and that it would not make me drowsy. I got said paperwork, and faxed it into my terminal's safety coordinator, just to cover my tail.

I didnt have any insurance, and just the visit and two shots cost me $900+. Seriously thinking of just getting some time off, and going in and getting all my teeth yanked out so i dont have to worry about brushing anymore...LOL

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you can even have them in your possession in a CMV.

What did he prescribe you? I was given a script for Amoxicillin-clavulanate 875-125mg for antibiotic, and Vicoden 5mg for pain.

I can't find it anywhere in the green book, and I've looked all over it. There are plenty of entries about getting your medical cert while being prescribed certain medications, but I can't find anything about the use of prescriptions.

Obviously you can't take anything that will impair your ability to drive, and vicoden most certainly fits that description, and I would never take one while driving, but I want to know if I can take them after I am done driving for the day. I can deal with the pain while driving, too much mental focus on driving to think much about the pain, but when it comes time to sleep, the pain just keeps me up all night :(

I didn't fill the script yet, and last night I did take one that the hospital gave me after I drove back to the T/S from the hospital just to see how it would make me feel. I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed. So I don't think it would effect me driving using it just at night, but I am not going to fill the script until I know for sure I can do so legally.

Schedule I drugs are not allowed in CMV.

Just so you know there is no such thing as a schedule 1 drug that is prescription :) Schedule 1 is used for all drugs that have no to little medical use. It is actually a Schedule 3 drug.

Though some states do have a prescription modal for medical pot, it is not federally legal.
