In the interest of new drivers that come to this board that may read your dangerous and illegal guidance in this thread.

Why shouldn't you?

Well, that's a point. But, I will now do it in my own time and my own way. You broke your word... plain and simple. So, I haven't bothered working on the situation today. I'm sick today, and I have to go to work tonight.

So, you can go ahead and make as big an AZZ of yourself as you want to. Your obsession is already obvious to all here. Make the type huge if you want, it will just show what a huge AZZ you are. use all them faggish colors you like to use!

I really don't care at the moment.

Better yet...... why don't you get a LIFE?

I ate too much Ramen in college, along with wayy too much Sam's Choice soda.

I have needed help getting into some spots. The back row of Ontario east and the Flying J in Aurora Colorado come to mind.

wanderingson 12-02-2008 05:20 AM

Well, I think the above is why this board has kind of slowed down. (golf and belpre's argument) Too much bickering, name calling, etc. New members/ drivers come here and ask questions, and all too often the thread gets twisted into an argument, and usually off topic too. Although there is a lot of great info on here, for the new driver especially.

When I joined here in Nov. 2004, this board was a nicer place to be. Not so much anymore. I sometimes still look here, and find some interesting things to read or comment about. There is a lot of negativity here though, which turned me off from CAD awhile back. I am glad to see the new mods, Rev Vassago and Gman....hopefully they can help turn things around here.

On a different note, I was glad to see Dr Who post the other day....any new drivers or members should read his posts. I have missed his witty and intelligent insight into this crazy business. I've been away from this board for awhile, and it was great to see. (best of luck doc)

All you drivers, keep it safe out there.

See...You were at the wrong location. Ontario West has much better free entertainment. Not enough room over at TA East for the BBR's to get out of 4th gear as they hit the turn.:clap::clap::clap:

We don't need to have name calling and constant bickering on the forum. This should be a place where those who have an interest in the trucking industry can come and ask questions and learn about this industry. They should not have to deal with all the bickering. We can discuss or debate issues without making it personal.

Well, in theory, I see your point wanderingson and will definitely keep that in mind.

In practice, however, when Golfhobo and I engage in one of our battles/pissing matches, those are consistently the most viewed threads on CAD. Seems that some folks are apparently getting a charge out of it, as the views often go in to the thousands. I dunno, you tell me.

Interesting thought though..................;)

I agree with GMAN. i know this thread has tried to die a couple times, but someone always brings it back to life. =)

I've said this in past posts, and i know there will be some who will spout off saying I'm the one to blame, etc. But what it boils down to is we are all drivers (even the ones on here who pretend to be) in some way shape or form on the roads of america. We need to be professional and respectful to each other. This board is here to HELP NEW DRIVERS.....hence the name "NEW TRUCK DRIVERS GET HELP HERE". This isnt a place to start knocking drivers because of who they work for. This isnt the place to start telling others "you will fail, you will never amount to anything, you are a danger on the road" blah blah blah.
I've pretty much said this before 10s of times, if you cannot respond with something that isnt constructive, then just dont say it. OR use undertones that might be taken the wrong way. I dont take anyone's crap in the real world, and i dont take it here. that is why some of you dont like me...and i dont even care.

point is, just be professional. its that simple.

It's very funny you say this, Kevin, because in many ways, YOU are the worst offender. It generally takes very little to set you off, and when you do, you start ridiculing and calling people names.

Wow. If this isn't the pot calling the kettle black...I'm not sure what is. So, let me get this straight...it's okay if provoked...but otherwise unacceptable? How 'bout...it's UNACCEPTABLE no matter what? Myself and many others could spend hours digging up your old posts and posting examples, but I don't think that would get us anywhere.

Please, instead of trying to correct others, correct your OWN posting issues. That alone will make this a better place to post. :angryblue:

It's also not the place to attack anyone who disagrees with you. As far as "taken the wrong way", this isn't some politically correct warm and fuzzy place. If someone disagrees with you or thinks you are wrong, they will likely tell you, and be blunt about it. If you can't handle that without resorting to attacks, then you might as well leave now.

Beyond that, if you don't like what someone has to say, then I suggest you simply ignore it.

the words "kettle" and "black" come to mind for some reason.

and how in hell can you judge someones skill or ability to drive a truck when you've never seen them do so? dont know....maybe we have a new super hero on our hands....futureman....

Can you just go one week without the need to antagonize me?

the "YOU" is in the form of "figure of speech". i.e. "...YOU people..." LOL....several people? you cant count very well, huh.

is it so hard to AGREE with the fact that this board is here to HELP newbie drivers? is it so hard to understand i have NEVER attacked without being attacked? maybe you need to use your mod powers and go back into history, and see where i turned to the dark side. if you can actually view posts with an open mind.....you'll see it.

Never attacked without being attacked? How 'bout never attacking, REGARDLESS of what others say? An eye for an eye, right? With that logic, we'd all be blind!:eek1:

Kevin0915 12-13-2008 04:05 PM

so you're saying...state your opinion...then have someone call you unskilled, a failure, and whatever else, and you'd think "that is okay....ill just take it."? sorry, i never have been like that. someone get in my face, i'm right back in theirs. i dont bow my head, say "sorry you're right" and walk away like a little priss.
i can take someones different opinion, or when someone happens to tell me i might be wrong.

to hit below the belt saying i'll fail, or i'm not skilled enough .... please....that is a coward.

TomB985 12-13-2008 04:19 PM

Never said anything of the sort! Never did I say that you should bow out and admit you were wrong.

What I did say was that replying with attacks and insults will only do two things. First, it'll piss everyone off. Second, it will completely destroy all credibility you have.

Look at the way most others post on here. Heck, I get into "arguments" with people here all the time, but never, EVER do I resort to name calling or ridicule. I just back up what I say, bring new facts to the table, and carry on like that. If someone resorts to that kind of thing, I ignore it, because it adds NOTHING of value to the thread.

If someone argues with you, prove them wrong...don't call them names!!!

You quoted me. If you meant someone else, then you should have stated such.

This board isn't simply here for newbies. It is here for CDL holders, their families, and anyone else who is interested in trucks or trucking.

That doesn't make you above the rules, and I haven't seen you point out any such attacks.

http://www.classadrivers.com/forum/n...ew-mentor.html

There is the thread where you started attacking for the first time. You started by going after headborg, who simply asked some questions regarding driving time (and even told you he wasn't trying to belittle you), then switched to Jumbo, who simply gave an opinion. It snowballed from there, and you haven't stopped since.

If you have a problem with someone attacking you personally, then click the little "alert" icon on the post, and let the mods take a look at it. If it is a violation of the rules, then it will be dealt with via the proper channels.

Violating the rules yourself in retaliation is not making the problem go away, it is only adding fuel to the fire. If you simply want to be a "back seat moderator", or you just want to attack others because they hurt your feelings, then you will be dealt with accordingly.

Someone saying they think you'll fail because of your attitude is their opinion. You've admitted yourself that you are a new driver, and don't know everything (in the above mentioned thread). But any time someone has pointed out where you were wrong, you went on the attack.

Kevin0915 12-13-2008 05:45 PM

glad you posted that. If you notice my dealings with him right away were friendly and respectful. Notice how it wasnt till he started questioning my ability (something nobody knows unless they have physically SEEM me drive the truck) to drive a truck? the whole "9 straight hours" seemed to be a sticking point with him and others as it kept coming up.

Am i above the rules? hardly....i expect everyone to follow them, INCLUDING YOU, and not flash your new badge and try to make me nervous.

When someone points something out where i am wrong, when i KNOW i am right, you're damned right i am going to defend my position. Not some joe schmo whos going to let someone give me their 'tude, and then 'just take it'.

It kept coming up because you were whining about people taking issue with anyone driving 9 hours straight with no stops. Nobody attacked you personally, but you certainly did. Heck - you even attacked me in another thread because I told you to go to your employer with what you had posted and talk to them (which is what you ended up doing anyway).

What you expect people to do is irrelevant here. If you want to expect certain things, then go start your own trucking message board.

Kevin0915 12-13-2008 06:17 PM

Skywalker 12-13-2008 06:41 PM

For what little my 2 cents is worth.... I haven't had much to say of late because I've gotten a little tired of telling different people the same thing over and over. Afterall, how many times can you advise a newbie to stay away from a bottom-feeder outfit?

And I have actually had some other pursuits take precedence....like working on my boat, and spending more time with my lovely wife, particularly when I'm at home.

I don't think the board is dead....I do think some of us have just tired of some of the redundancy and have just decided to not say too much....

GMAN 12-13-2008 07:17 PM

The board is far from dead. Postings are down from a few months ago, but these things go in cycles. We had a decline in postings about a year or so ago as I recall. It came back as I am sure it will again. Anyone is free to start their own thread, post or answer questions as they wish. You can always invite friends or acquaintances who share an interest in trucking. New members are always welcome to participate.

I have to agree Skywalker when you said: "I haven't had much to say of late because I've gotten a little tired of telling different people the same thing over and over."

How many times do we have to say use dope -- don't drive. Or Have a poor driving record -- Don't expect employer to hire you.

One other thing I have seen in the last few months is how the board has changed. We have lost many of the old timers that use to post here. Now we have a bunch of low time drivers, with many with less than a year experience and they think they know everything there is about trucking.
