If you get a job with a company that is union. They will hire you first, then after you get past a set amount of time you will have to join the Local that they have a contract with. The Union will let you know what the dues are going to be. Then you pay your dues and a initiation fee, and you are in.

Someone already posted a link with phone numbers of all the trucking companies around here, half of which I've never heard of. There is also craigslist like someone else posted and.......carrierbuilders, jobdango, etc..........and the Oregonian has job listings posted online also

Before they ever handed you the keys to a truck, you were told and asked if you understood that they did not pay overtime, not sure what his complaint was, he had to know that going in.

Ironically back in the 1930s when the FLSA was passed trucking was exempted due to the Teamsters. It was thought that their influence on wages made applying the act to trucking unnecessary.

If the freight is not crossine state lines (intrastate) then only the OR laws apply. If you documented your hours it could be worth your trouble to talk to an attorney that specializes in labor law.

I know a few months back there was a Court Ruling about OT for drivers in WA where the state court held that hours worked out of state counted towards to total for calculating OT.
