If my brain served me correctly...and lo and behold it did!! I was thinking that our "sister company"....Carry Transit....a food grade tanker company, had just opened a new facility in the Portland, OR area....they did!!!

So, if you live there, and are tired of picking splinters out of your backside, and tired of sitting around not getting paid for your time, etc....go to:

http://www.carrytransit.com and check out the company. Here is the link to the Portland terminal: http://www.carrytransit.com/terminals/PortlandOR.html

You can look on Cyanide's post about Carry and Superior to see what the pay is all about. Make sure you look at Carry's pay schedules, they are slightly different than Superiors. Also, call the 800# for the Stockton, CA terminal and talk to the terminal manager there....get the actual pay rates for that terminal from him. There are minor differences around the country based on local costs of living, etc.

Under Federal Law....the trucking industry (non-union) actually has an "exemption" from Federal Labor Laws that require payment of over-time to its employees that are "hourly".....its a "legislated hose job".

That thar little exemption is known as "The Fair Labor Standards Act", and it has a little paragraph in there, that exempts truck drivers whom cross state lines, from being eligible for overtime pay.

I'm thinking you must have talked with "Scotty B White's: Knight Transportation" based in Puyallup WA. A Flatbed company not related to Knight Transportation, based out of Phoenix AZ.

If you are looking for a union job. Try Safeway, or Unifide Grocers. There is also Albersons, or WinCo.

I'm a Dave that lives in Beaverton and drove for Tualatin Valley, there were 3 of us at the same time.

Before they ever handed you the keys to a truck, you were told and asked if you understood that they did not pay overtime, not sure what his complaint was, he had to know that going in.
