Yeah... The Terminal Manager and I didn't click like all drivers should (get those boots on drivers, I'm getting deep!). I spent 4 weeks on the road, and they passed me without even knowing if I can back that trailer up.

The whole time I was with my mentor I backed up 3 times. Now I can do it without destroying property :lol:

Not meaning to hijack here but, what is your point. You take a road test to get your CDL. You go out with another driver for 6 weeks. Why does the road test have to be hard. Apperently if you made it throu a DMV, your trainer for 6 weeks. Then what good is a road test anyways.

And I have seen idiots at every company, even US Express.

Because of what he just said . In order to be trainer a swift you only have to have 6 months exp . Yea there are alot bad driver a usx but i see alot more swift trucks in the ditch than other company .

I don't think you saw the sarcasm in the remark about my backing. Sometimes you have to do things through "baptism by fire". I am a safe driver, I know where I am going, I know where I have been, and after running Dedicated, I can get a 53' trailer into a space just big enough to a fit a skinny person in between two other trailers on either side of mine without damaging any property.

You have to understand that not all Swift drivers (current or past) are irresponsible and reckless. There are those of us who get really hacked when other drivers for Swift are being idiots on the road.

I do actually care about the image of the company that I work for, therefore I will do my best to try and be a professional. After all, aren't we all supposed to be professionals? At least that is what the CDL classifies us as!

Lastly, I truely believe that if you ever think your perfect, hand in your keys because you will get someone killed.

When I took my road test at USX I had to do a pre trip, couple/uncouple, drove through a couple city streets, then onto the interstate (75) then had to do a 45 degree back

It sounds as if you passed them and they were hired, based on your comment. You said many came to work for US Xpress. I guess they couldn't have been such horrible drivers if YOU passed them and they got hired. So, what's the point you're trying to make?

I think the thread is getting a little carried away. I was just stating a simple fact of my experience.

Well thanks everybody for the responses. It was really informative. About you Mikey you can sit on here all night and argue which company is better because personally i don't give a sh*^. All these large company's are the same and being just like everybody else who is new to this industry I want to gain my experience and move on to bigger and better things. It don't matter what kind of equipment you have or even how bad your trainer is its the "driver that makes the driver". Thanks everybody.

Im sure your one those guys who took to trucking like you have doing all your life . Im not only picking on swift drivers . swift has alot of great people working there. I just think that training standards should be alot higher for all companys .
