too bad they are gonna discontinue the 379... it's one of the most liked Petes, and it'll be a shame to see it go...

I just got a 2001 CH600 it is a good truck only has 166,000 on it but only a 350 under the hood  and no jake brake  . Pulling 80,000 that 350 works hard. Dont worry miller i will allways representing the macks. Us mack guys got to stick together.

I got the same turd of a 350 with a 9 speed, but actually i'm suprised it ain't as bad as some may think, it pulls pretty well, and is geared awesome for off road use, which i'm off road quite a bit of the time, probably you too. But i got that all important jake brake, honestly man, with the kind of weight i haul, that jake brake is more important to me than a/c and a radio, but of course i got both, just trying to get the point across. I drove a Vision when i was OTR, and that was a good truck too, i had a 2000, and it had to be one of the roomiest trucks on the road. So in all Mack makes a hell of a workhorse for us local haulers, but the OTR units, like the Vision, aren't too bad either.

Well i got a 10speed I wish i had a Jake but i guess i will do with out it just downshift and know how to brake going down the hills ain't much you can do. We have 4 Vision day cabs. I told them for the new ones coming in 07 to get granites day cabs. but am just a driver so it went in one ear and out the other. I pull a tanker so i don't see to much off road. But when i drove dumps i was off road more then i was on it. The mack dump i had was a hell of a truck it was a 87 r model and then a 2003 granite.

What Macks lack in refinement/smoothness they make up in robust construction and durability. It's not uncommon to find lots of 20, 30 year old Mack R series trucks still making a living.
Mack was the truck of choice for the post Apocalyptic world of "The Road Warrior". |
They don't make that bad of looking trucks.
