Well, it seems as though you are still thinking you're under the old rules. We now have 11 hours to drive. However... IF you drive 10 of those 11 hours, and then want to split your sleeper, here's what you would have:

Assuming you haven't reached or exceeded your 14 hour limit by the time you finished 10 hours of driving, you would have 1 hour of driving left. If you wanted to split your sleeper (no good reason to do so...) you have two choices. You can take 2 hours off in the sleeper or anywhere, and IF, including that time, you still have 1 hour left on your 14, you can drive that other hour and then you'd need 8 hours that MUST be in the sleeper. OR.... you could take the minimum 8 hours in the sleeper and then drive one more hour before finishing the split with 2 hours off (in any location.)

I don't think you understand the purpose and process of the split sleeper. It's not like you can split it up AFTER you've already driven your full time. It's more like.... If you want to drive 5, take 8 off in the sleeper, and then drive 6, take 2 hours off anywhere, and then you get the first 5 back... after which you would have to take the 8 hour sleeper break again. Rinse and repeat.
