Default high court misdemeanor

have a friend who is looking at driving truck.. he has his CDL and had had one for a long time an worked on local farmers around the area.. hes now considering going on the road for steady work but he has recently been convicted on negligent homicide. long story short lost his brakes and failed to stop at a stop sign and unfortunitly 2 people were killed in the the car that he had hit.

so does anyone think he has a chance.. i told him i was doubtful but i figured with the vast amount of people on here might be able to give me a better insight on his situation. maybe i am wrong but i dont really know.

is charge is a high court misdemeanor

The best way to find out is to apply for jobs.

Anything which involves a motor vehicle and someone losing their life is serious, especially in this business. You didn't mention how long it has been. After several years have passed some may consider him. If it appears on his MVR it will likely cause a problem. The larger carriers will likely want a good amount of time to pass before considering him. A smaller carrier might work with him, depending on the circumstances. I suggest getting a copy of the court records, his mvr and start making phone calls. I would lay everything out when you first talk to the recruiting people and see what they suggest. You may save yourself some time if you check the company listings at the top of this page. Most list their requirements and restrictions. Keep in mind those are basic requirements and not necessarily set in stone.

Negligent homicide is a nice way of saying murder. Voluntary manslaughter is bad enough and a death sentence for a driving career...homicide is ridiculously bad. I know of NO companies, large or small, that would ever even consider a driver that killed someone with their truck and was charged with it, regardless of how long it has been.

It doesn't look like he's a "mult", but I don't want his "friend" out on the road in a truck. Any company that would hire someone with that kind of a charge on their record, deserves to be out of business.

I dont think there is an insurance company in the world that would touch him even if he bought his own truck and trailer.
