Default Paperless Logs in the future??

I was reading on another trucking website, that paperless logs are in the future for Swift. They started paperless with their sister company Central Freight first of the year. I heard that they are being asked to go paperless because of all the internal DOT audits are coming up with alot of log violations, and they are being threatened with their authority to operate.

anybody else hear about this?

they've been experimenting with them since before i started with swift.

did you also know that swift has 57' long trailers? you'll see them around texas. their numbers start off as "75". they just can't leave texas with those trailers. i'm sure they'll be seeing some use around california and arizona because gardner and another company with those blue cab-overs pull them between cali, nevada, and arizona. i can't think of that other company's name that uses those blue cab-overs. it's been awhile since i've been in california.

yeah, i knew they had 57footers. I was at a Wal-Mart DC in Sealy, TX, and hooked up to one without paying attention to the trailer number. I did my MT call and my DM sent a message back saying "get one that isnt 57 foot". hahahah

as far as i know, they'd gotten rid of their auto hauler fleet. i know there's a small o/o fleet out of the denver terminal that dabbles in petroleum tankers. each time i see them, they're either on home time, or stopping through to refuel, and they're gone in no time. yes, they actually *own* their trucks.

Hmm. I saw the exact setup not more than two months ago near Lansing, Michigan. Perhaps it is an 0/0 truck now. Swift's Michigan terminal has a tanker division. I am thinking 3 or 4 trucks and they haul pavement sealant stuff (don't you love my techno lingo

And thanks for the camaro spelling correcto, Mike. OOps

not to be confused with an Alpha Romero
