Default will I be able to work somewhere else?

I've been with Cypress truck lines for about 7 weeks now. At this point I'm not sure if I can take it any longer. The equipment used is absolutely terrible. Not to mention the 5.00 tarping fee they pay you. Dispatchers are absolutely horrible. I'm wanting to leave but wanna make sure I can go to work somewhere else as this is my first driving job. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY ADVICE

I know you said it stinks over there, but unless they are raping your azz on your paychecks I would stick with it for at least 6 months, and preferably 1 year. The last thing you want as a newbie is to be labeled a job hopper, and with only 7 weeks at this company you risk that title if you quit. I stayed with my first company for 1 year and 3 months and it wasnt all candy and roses. I used that first job as a parlay into local driving, and now Im where I want to be. Pay your dues now, reap the rewards later.

check out CTL. We are a Haz-tanker company though. If you dont want to do that maybe CCC or CT. they all have terminals in Jax. Good luck

Default Cypress

biscuit99 - I'm guessing you didn't check out Cypress' rep before you went with them.
If you feel you can't stand them at all, you may want to switch to Coastal Transport, also a flatbed company in Jax, last I knew with Macks for tractors. The group they're part of has six other divisions.
Have you pulled rebar or slinkies out of Ameristeel in Baldwin yet? BOL

I've pulled slinkies out of Baldwin and Georgetown S.C....I checked them out before deciding on them. After you get in the door there is alot of things thier not upfront about until they have you locked. I'm up for doing flatbed or Van. Would like a company that has driver safety in mind. With the equipment being ran I dont think this is the one

I can assure you at CT or any other comcar company saftey is first and foremost period. I dont know much about CT since I work at CTL but the basics are the same. Log it like you run it. You wont be asked to do anything illegal on your logs. And they treat you good. Also they drive Macks. HTH

If you are truly that miserable at Cyprus what I suggest you do is make some calls and talk to other companies. Tell them you situation, put in an application and see what happens.

With only 7 weeks under your belt odds are that you would be hired in as a trainee and have to go through OTJ training all over again, but IMHO that would be a small price to pay to get away from a junk company. Also do your best to make sure that you will be able to stay with the next company for 1 full year.

Come on over to CT. You'll probably have to do 5-6 weeks training, but it'll be worth it. We just had another Cypress trainee quit them and come over to CT a couple weeks ago.

All of our trucks are 2-3 year old Macks with Automatics. Infact we just traded in 20-30 3 yr old Macks for new ones.

I appreciate all the replys. I think I'm gonna make some calls and see what I can come up with. Along with CT does anyone have any suggestions be it Van or Flatbed that I should probably check out?
