WOLF RIVER, it sounds like you're doing great so far. A lot of people seem to have problems at first with backing up, so that must be a relief for you.
As for the shifting, I feel your pain. I took a Schneider course a long time ago and I couldn't understand what they meant by "speed shifting". I thought that meant you had to do everything as quickly as possible. I kept grinding the gears like crazy until we were out on the road and our instructor took the wheel. As it turned out, I just had to get the timing down and work the clutch and shifter more slowly. After that, it was just like what happened for you. Everything started to "click", and it wasn't a problem after that.
It sounds like you are at a quality school. By any chance do you have a link to their website? I hope it's ok to ask for that on this site. I'm new here, and don't want to get in trouble right off the bat.
Please keep us up to date on how things go for you, when time allows. It's always interesting to read about the experiences other people have.
Best of luck, and keep on truckin'!
