i worked there for a while and was thinking about going back, but going to wait till first of the year to decide. they were good people, paid good too. the only thing i did not like was their idea of a weekend and mine were two different things, but we could have got through that if i was not so stubborn. insurance was decent, far from the best i hav seen. overall i wished i had stayed.

There is a difference. UPS starts everyone at part time and you work your way up. UPS Freight, I was hired on as full time right off the bat. I am not sure why the difference but there is.

Where I work though, they were looking for Full time city PU & D drivers. Sometimes its all about timing. I did fill out an application once a month for three months before I got a call.

ibamars I work at Freight same as you! Coltsfan the website is very confusing. The feeder jobs and package handlers are all "parcel" (small packages) and usually part time or seasonal. Look at the left side of the screen and make sure you select LTL to find jobs in Freight. I searched Indiana today and they are not hiring drivers in Indy but they are hiring for a position called "dock w/cdl". This is a permanant full time job and would be a great job for you with no experience. Full time pay and bennies, I'm guessing 18.50/hr to start. You will need doubles and hazmat but they could hire you with no experience. From there you could transfer to city driver or road driver later on.

Honest? I would run, not walk from a deal like that. 50 bucks for 36 hours of layover?!?!? What a f$#%in joke!!! Maybe the supertruckers on this site think that's big money, but it's a slap in the face to anyone looking for a decent wage. Typical cut-rate OTR carrier. They're all the same. The only difference is the paint job and ICC # on the door.

If you have to, do it for a year or two and then get your foot in the door of an LTL company and start building your seniority. The longer you wait, the bigger hole you dig for yourself.

Zone 3 also initials the Zone 1 $.06 a mile for delivery into the state of New York.

LAYOVER PAY

We will do our best to minimize layovers. We will make every effort to make sure your load is ready. However, when they occur, we compensate you. Drivers are paid $50.00 layover pay for the first 36 hours. They receive an additional $50.00 for each 24-hour period thereafter. Company teams receive $30.00 each for the same time period.

LOADING/UNLOADING PAY

Typically, loading and unloading freight is paid at a rate of $1.50 per 1000 pounds, with a minimum of $40.00 for a full trailer. Some of our customers that require assistance pay more.

The recruiter at this company says drivers average 2500 miles per week. Hometime is as follows: Out Sunday afternoon/evening back Friday afternoon/evening. Keep in mind that I am a newbie and my choices are limited. None of the LTL companies are hiring I'm assuming due to no freight. All local companies want 1-2 years experience.

They go NE a lot but they compensate you. This is a small company, only about 300 trucks. Family owned. Tell me what you think.
