Default GETTING EXPERIANCE QUESTION

i got my CDL A in january 07, i would like to do local trucking, like freight and flatbed. however all the companies up here in anchorage want a driver with at least 2 years exp. so i'm like how the heck i'm i suppose to get exp. if no one is willing to pick me up. anyways i'm thinking about taking a job as a bus driver (class b). after a year or so will this be relevant experiance when i'm apply for driving A Class, or will they still see me with no exp.?

,tony

Most likely driving a bus or any other class b truck for that matter won't count towards experience to drive a class a rig.

My advice is to see if there are any O/Os or small outfits in your area willing to train you.
Call them all even if their ad says "requires such and such experience" One of them may be so in need of drivers that they may relax their experience requirements and give you a shot.

good luck

Getting local is very tough for a newbie. Like gorillasnot said try local companies and see if they will give you a chance, even if it isn't what you really want to do. Most new guys in my area start driving dirt or gravel haul with a combination rig ....get a year experience and then move on.....just a suggestion.
