Default relocating to florida

I am considering moving to Florida. I live in Colorado and honestly I am just sick and tired of cold and snow. My question is...are there local or dedicated jobs down there? I do not want to go otr. I would consider regional, but only want to be gone 2-3 days at a time.

Any info will be much appreciated!

If you plan on moving to a large city, there should be plenty of local jobs. I would check for jobs before you move, make sure you have a job. Don't want to get down there, and not have anything. If you know where you are moving to, I would look on-line to see if they have an on-line newspaper. Check the ads, and see what jobs may be open.

Well actually I am going on vacation in a week to florida and plan on looking for work while Im there. I would not move there without having a job already lined up. I am really looking forward to not having to throw chains every week when I go into the mountains. I guess I can live with the occasional hurricane or tornado...just a joke, I know floridians have put up with alot in the past few years.

Yeah, you can either shovel snow, or dodge hurricanes. :P Good to know that you are looking for something before you actually move there.

Yeah, you only have to endure 120 degrees from May till Sept. But, it's a "dry heat."

i lived in Tampa, fl for 4 years. the trucking jobs there do not pay at all . they could put a big fence around that state and call it slavery. the cost of living is $. home owners insurance 4,000.00 car insurance 1 car 2,000 to 3,000. a year. i sold my house for good profit and left . real estate went way up there so if you want to buy a house look in to that. if you do it get into the limo business or buses that is were the money is at also hang around the cruise ship areas lots of people = lots of money. good luck to you. i now live in the cut and shoot Texas area. cheap dirt and lots of trucking work with the black gold.

Well Bonzo, thanks for the info. Thats not what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is. I just want a local, straight truck job, 5 days a week and for about 14 an hour. I guess I will have a hard time finding that. But, Im gonna look and see what comes up. I used to live in Deland about 15 years ago, but now want to live on the gulf coast.

Thanks again

Florida is a big state. There are plenty of good paying local jobs in South Florida, you just have to have a year or two of CMV experience. Southeastern Freight is always hiring and they start at like $19 an hour. Conway was hiring a few months ago last I checked. AAA Cooper is always hiring from what I hear and I use to see a sign outside the ABF terminal on 95 in West Palm Beach that says that they were hiring.

Yes it is very expensive in South Florida but the weather is awesome. It all depends on what you like, if you like a more rural setting then South Florida is not for you. Anyway go to careerbuilder.com and put in Miami or Ft Lauderdale and you'll find plenty of jobs. Good Luck
