My husband and I will always strive to be the best at what we do and trucking will be no different. We will also strive to always be legal and the safest!
If any of you can remember some of the nasty showers, I will make a note of them! Who has the worst truck stop stories? What are some do's and don't's at truck stops?
My Father started trucking in 1947. I don't think many of us can imagine how hard trucking was back then. He told me, over, and over, that trucking was not a job for women. I was just a little girl and wanted to go with him one summer, but he wouldn't allow it. I grew up with 3 brothers and had to break up a few fights, and generally grew up competing with them in many areas. Those words that they would say to me keep ringing in my ears. "You're just a girl.. you can't do it"! Just before he passed away my Dad told me that the trucking industry was changing and the equipment was getting much better. He said that not only could a woman do this job, but also, could do it well. He said that women will make it a better industry. I think he was right! He told me I should consider being a truck driver. My husband has experience with driving and is very excited about teaming. We get along about as good as any married couple and have 5 Grandkids. All of who have gone on to be productive and good people. Now that is a tough job! One thing that my Father always told me is that most of the truckers were very good people and this forum is proof of that! Thanks again, we look forward to meeting some of you out there! Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or what ever you might call it! PS: Just ignore some of my husband's remarks, if he gets on here! Raising 3 teenagers has made him rough around the edges!

If you and your spouse are planning on driving together, then you will be running as a team. Team driving usually involves running hard, often with tighter time schedules. That means re-fuel, park the truck, grab a shower, then get back in the truck and drive some more.
"Justruckin" wasn't trying to be a smart a$$, but was being very matter of fact. There are many people who confuse driving a big truck with being "paid tourists".
As for CRST, I have not heard much in the way of positive things about them. Might do well to check out The Pumpkin; I understand that they have an excellent training program. I've met a number of their drivers, and like so many other companies, they do have their nay sayers, but I've also known many who were very happy with them
I'd suggest that you look into CFI as well!!
I'm glad that you and D/H get along so well; you'll need to, because you will both essentially be living in a small, rolling walk-in closet. That will tax and test even the best of relationships.

yeah what he said I forgot about those guys, also might try Interstate Dist.out of Tacoma Wash.both are damm good companies and both Love Teams.i would diffently scratch CRST off the list heard nothing but bad news about them.
1. My wife talks way too much! Yakity, yakity, yak! Point in fact: Her last posting was posted twice???
2. Our grandkids are not grown and productive people, our children are!
3. She’s still mad because her brothers got to go with her Father on some of his runs and she didn’t. She forgot to mention that her Mother wouldn’t let her go either!
4. Her biggest competitor is me, because her brothers have their own wives to compete with now! (She thinks she’s a better driver than me…we’ll see about that) All I know is that if she drives the truck like she drives her car…watch out…all of you!
5. The verdict is still out on whether women are making the trucking industry a better place. Who ever heard of running water in a truck??? Her father just turned circles in his grave over that one!
6. I don’t have a problem with any shower, as long as the water is wet, and somewhat clean! I don’t smell like vegetables and I’m definitely notfruity…maybe she’s talking about my gas…but hers doesn’t smell like lavender!
7. One thing, though, she is the most dependable person I know, and we are best friends!
“Do you know what it means to come home at night to a woman who'll give you a little love, a little affection, a little tenderness? It means you're in the wrong house”.
