You can tell the Garmins that you are a truck and it will try to keep you on truck routes. You do have to watch for low bridges as I know from experience NY and NJ have truck routes that can't take a 13' 6" truck  . I have used my I2 in NJ a bit and it seems to do a suprisingly good job 8) !

I have pics posted of my setup in the 'anything and everything' forum. Do a search for 'finished my gps setup' and it should bring it up.
Has anyone seen the new 'car pcs'? They're tiny computers, roughly the size of a cd/dvd-rom drive from a standard pc. I think something like that would be perfect in a truck. You can also get the full 12v power supplies for them and tie them into the ignition system, and will auto-start/shutdown the computer when you run the truck. I really like the in-dash unit, but the price is wayyyyyy out of my league for quite awhile. I did play around with the StreetDeck software that's shown on the 2nd link below. It's a great program - it combines many many features into a gps app, including an mp3 player, satelite radio and others. http://store.mp3car.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=25 http://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetai...Code=SDK%2D007 http://www.streetdeck.com/

Pics are being emailed to you now - it's just going slow (1 bar on my connection). I'm just glad I have that Sprint card ;-)
Never thought I'd be sitting in a swamp in Louisianna emailing pics. LOL

I have a laptop mount on my right side about 8 inches past my stick shift and have the mount set about the same height as the top of my stick shift. That way it doesn’t get in my way or impair my vision in any way. Had to experiment at first though to fine tune my current set up. Still though, anytime I get in tight quarters, I flip the screen down not because it obscures my vision but so that I won’t be distracted.
