Seriously thinking about going into OTR trucking. Don't have a CDL. Rather than become indentured to big company I'd like to go to one of the private schools first. Does anyone know of any in the Boston area that would really properly prepare me for this. (or should I just try to get training from one of the big companies???

if you can its always better to pay for your own schooling first. That way you arent going to be stuck in a low paying job for your first year.

You may check with some of the community colleges and state vocational schools. Many of them offer good training at a much lower rate than the private schools. The down side is that their courses may last longer. They usually help with job placement after graduation. You might get with Steve Booth. He went to a school near you, I believe. Good luck.

Did you try New England Tractor Trailer training school theres one in North Andover and Parker in Avon ,mass.I went to NETTTS in Somers,Ct i graduated on Oct 20th i'm leaving tomorrow morning for Des Moines,Ia for oreintation at TMC good luck in finding a school!!!

You may also want to check with your state's unemployment/security commission office for financial assistance (could help with up to 40-50%) and find a company that will will reimburse the remainder. It helped me.
