the copy i have has had ALL the deleted scenes reinstalled and longer versions of some scenes also reinstalled and you would not believe how it changes the story line. if you rented it you most likely got the short one (has over an hour cut out of it) and it is dam hard to follow what is going on I got a VHS tape that was all they had, and it really felt like I started the movie in the middle because things weren't explained very well. I have since been told that it was first a book and if I would have read it more of the movie would have made sense. Im sure it was a good movie at the time. I do like nostalgic things that bring you back to a different time in your life. I for one love, love the smell of an outboard, heavy oil 50/1, Just the smell alone takes me back to being a kids and working at our family Marina. Those were some of the best times of my life as a kid. That and boat wax, My job for every summer was gasing boats and waxing them. sorry I just got side tracked, :D |

On a movie note, 2 of my children went and auditioned last weekend for the Children of the Corn remake they are doing here in Iowa. If they get parts, I might have to go see that one in the theatre. :D
If anyone has see the original and remembers what Malaki looked like, there was a look-alike there at auditions and they pulled him right out of line and took him inside for screen tests. :) Lots of hopefuls...they weeded them out by coming out and saying "if you don't know what this movie is about, you need to do some research. If you can't handle blood and gore, killing your parents and other adults, then you need to go." That got rid of quite a few...it was really interesting to see how many people showed up for a movie audition, not knowing what the movie was about. |

Oh, I forgot to add. One of the things the casting people said to whittle down the throng was "if anyone has braces on their teeth, you are disqualified. No on in this movie would be wearing braces."

Well, if they do get cast (long shot at best) it would be for background extras. I can't see them getting a speaking part, though I can see Brandyn stalking the streets of town with a machette and a hockey mask, looking to hack up young virgins. :shock:
Seriously, Brandyn has always wanted to get into that industry in one form or another, whether acting or doing voice overs. He's a master at impersonation...can hear a voice and then nail it. Yeah, lip-syncing a Romanian song was a bit of a challenge.
However, if you look closely at the shot where they are all sitting on my car, I screwed up the editing and it's off the sound track. Because it's a long shot, it's impossible to see unless you are looking right at one of the kids. But my daughter won't let me forget it. :) They are all ours as in, my wife and I have 3 each by previous marriage and the little one is ours. Interestingly enough, we have the Brady Bunch thing going on. A pair of 15's (2 months apart), a pair of 12's (2 days apart), and a pair of 10's (8 months apart), then the 6 year old. I saw a commercial the other night about people who seached these lists of unclaimed properties and found out that they had been willed all kinds of money...what are the odds that you or I just might have a dead, rich uncle...I could use a rich uncle these days!!! Hmmm...are there any here?

Ok so Jaws Mania was on this weekend and we got to watch all three Jaws movies. It was fun, I can only imagine what an awesome show that would have been if made these days but with the same cast. I know I don't need to give a review.
Jaws I, II and III :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: Oldie but goodie. Prom Night :idea: I wasn't really impressed with it, not into scarey movies but for a so called thriller I think it tanked. Bland, predictable and unoriginal. What Happens in Vegas :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: I liked it. You can all say it " You would". The ending was sappy and dumb though. But the rest of the movie was funny. It's about love that begins as hate. Which in my opinion is the best kind. The beginning half where it first introduces you to Ashton's character, good idea. Can't wait to be empty nester. |
I finally saw all of "Catch and Release". It takes a month, with kids interrupting every 15min, for me to watch a movie. :lol: It's a total chick flick and a good time. It was cute. I loved Kevin Smith. Great ending too.

Sassy Girl :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: alas I am a romantic so in that respect it was a good movie. But the main chic sucked.... Then I thought about and reconsidered .... *shrug shoulders*. Different not what I expected. Miss Pettigrew live for a day :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: Based on the a book (which I hear is much racier). Enjoyable and entertaining and I really like Amy Adams from. The Mist :idea: :idea: Typical Steven King though I didn't know it till the very last scene. When it happened I said out load" This is a Steven King movie, huh?" My kids like scary I like funny and girlly so we co watch. Just Add Water :idea: :idea: Weird. Just Weird. Not bad, not good just weird. Now to a Great movie. Hillarious but if you don't like SNL you might not like it. Baby Mama :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea: Trukr even enjoyed this chic flick. Which truly does say something. He actually laughed out load. As so my kids didn't like it. The were confused and outraged in the frist few minutes of the movie. I don't want to spoil it but a basic summary was unmarried childless woman wants to have a child (clock ticking thing). Anyway at the beginning she visits a spermbank and it actually used the word sperm. My 14yearold son stopped the movie because I was cooking and these are his words. " Mom I think you need to watch this, I don't think it is appropiate for kids" I didn't know what he meant at first so I said what happened. backed it up. Watched it and I still didn't see what got him so upset. Then he pointed to the word sperm on the screem. " THAT is just wrong!" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I think we need to have the talk clearly I might have missed something when I first explained the birds and bees. |

i saw 'tortilla soup' this weekend on one of the movie channels. it's a really good movie about family. it's centered around food and the dinner table, along the lines of the movie 'soul food'.

Or is it that show where the two main characters get phone calls telling them specific instructions to avoid harm to their family member? I want the old man to take me to "Fireproof your marriage" starring Kirk Cameron. It's actually a good movie, says the reviews, and has a decent message as aposed to typical Hollywood entertainment. But we did rent IronMan that came out on video even though we saw it in the theaters. I do say Robert Downey Jr. has come a long way from the Pick up Artist..... Props and cudos to him for working instead of spending time locked up. I wanted to see "Tropic Thunder" just because of his performance. I hear it is an equal opportunity offender. I am tired of PC. |
Yes, Eagle Eye was about the 2 people getting phone calls, directing them to do things.
Robert Downey Jr. has a new movie coming out with Jamie Foxx, called The Soloist. Wife and I saw the scenes and immediately put it on our list of movies to see. It definitely looks like a heart-string puller. |

3 lightbulbs...... Typical indy stuff and George Lucas detail but it was underexcpetations I guess. Where are my lightbulbs? Leatherheads 5 lightbulbs..... I was happily surprised how much I liked it. It was witty, funny, and included football. ( husband picked it out) He sure knows my tastes. :) |

We bought Iron Man at WalMart last night. It was worth buying. I thought the movie was pretty good. Robert Downy Jr isnt one of my favorites, but pretty good movie. I just wished it was longer. :p
