So excited!

Ok, this may seem strange to you.....in 'my family' we are expecting a baby- baby horse! Its due around the 19th of April, I am a nervouse wreck (been breeding for many years, and have lost 2 of my best mares/foals from BAD deliverys). Her name is "Glory"- shes a little thing, and a bit uncomfy in this pic :D

eastern ontario 03-24-2007 04:11 AM

she's a beaut! how old is she?

Jackrabbit379 03-24-2007 05:03 AM

Shyykat! I had no idea that you were a Wrangler. :P Congrats on the foal. Hopefully, it will come out alright.
No pun inteded.

shyykatt 03-24-2007 06:14 AM

thnx! Yeah, I'd talk 'horses' on here all the time if ya'll would let me!

She is 13 this year. I actually bred 3 mares last year, but shes the only one that settled. Hubby found her a year ago 'hiding' in someones back yard- the people were afraid of her, let us take her for $600; well gee, she is dead broke, and has a fantastic pedigree! Their loss I guess. i'll try n' put a pic of the proud daddy on here too.

this is "Xtreme"- He's 5 this year; I've been trail-training/riding him mostly, but soon I'll be training him for show. As you can see, he loves to play!

mapleleaf_1 03-24-2007 08:24 AM

Shyy if you want to talk about horses go right ahead. I'm sure there's others who'd love to chat about them too with you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you with the birth in April. Let us know how things turn out o.k.? Drive safe everyone. :)

shyykatt 03-24-2007 01:48 PM

A green light?!! Yeehaw- but don't say I didn't warn ya!

I've had 3 horses die within 5 years (2 mares were pregnant, so 5 if ya count the babies) - just 'freik occurances'- nothin' I did wrong (according to all the vets, friends, etc). I think when you want something so bad, the powers that be really put you to the test. Most days I want to get out of it, and just go OTR w/hubby- not sure if I am cut out for that though. Horses are the one thing that I'm good at, but 'living your dream' comes w/a price I guess. Anyway, that is why I'm on edge right now- don't know if I could watch another one die in front of me; I'm talking horrible- blood all over, and not a dang thing you can do to save them- just hope the vet gets there quick so you can put them out of their misery. ANYWAY...... Will definetly show ya'll the pics of 'it' when he/she gets here!

Slimland 03-24-2007 02:48 PM

ShyyKatt, You have some pretty Horses. My wife is a horse lover also! We have 2 mares of our own.

If I could figure out how to post picture's, I would show them!

LilBit 03-24-2007 04:09 PM

Those are some beautiful pictures you have there, best wishes to the momma and baby that all goes well and you have some new baby pictures to share when the time is right.......my husbands sister (an over the road trucker herself) has within the past year finally realized her dream of owning her own horse, she has some lovely people here that take care of her 'baby' while she's on the road and she spends most if not all her free time over there with her 'baby' when she gets back in ..... Keep us posted, we'll be waiting to hear some good news :)

shyykatt 03-27-2007 01:42 AM

Thought I'd show ya my old girl; "Galaxy"- been w/me for 20 yrs now, she is almost 30, has some arthritis, and is about 75% deaf. I've done EVERYTHING with this mare- chased cows, barrel racing, parades, camping, shows, swimming in the lake, taught her how to drive once, but only hooked her up to a cart a few times, and shes got more miles on her than some of yer super trucks! :D

shyykatt 04-03-2007 11:44 AM

jest countin' down the dayz now- time cant go any slower :!:

Today my pup got a snip-snip; hes the saddest dog I've ever seen- poor feller'. :)

mapleleaf_1 04-03-2007 04:15 PM

Yes Shyy the time will creep along. LOL I've got that to do with one of my male Siberian huskies in the next month too. I hate to do it but it's got to be done. Drive safe everyone. :)

Truckfam 04-05-2007 07:39 PM

skyy, I love the pictures of your horses. I love the avatar also. I'm a horse lover myself, eventhough I don't really know if I'd actually want to raise one though.

I hope everything goes well with this mother and foal.

shyykatt 04-12-2007 08:48 AM

Got another thing to be excited about.....a while back/in another thread I told ya'll about the meth-heads around here causing so much trouble; they finally busted the one house down the road from me- I had my suspicions and nobody believed me (until I had taken some pics & other people complaining)- the dude that lives there is FINALLY locked up, and they found all sorts of meth-related goodies. Wonder if I'll get my gas can back?

Jest had to tell someone :D

"Glory" is starting to show more signs- baby could come any day really- im nervous

shyykatt 04-29-2007 07:21 AM

Grrrrr......not-so-excited anymore- 'Glory' is takin' her sweet ole time w/having this baby- she was due the 19th- just when I think 'this is it'- ......nothing happens! :?

eastern ontario 04-29-2007 08:58 AM

Awwwwww, that sounds like me with my first, honestly I thought I was having a horse too! Just didnt want to come into this world.

Hope it all happens soon!

LilBit 04-29-2007 01:53 PM

OK you get out there and tell her it's time already :) I wanna see the baby pics :) C'mon Glory lets get this baby ball rollin ;) Have you planned any names for baby yet?

mapleleaf_1 04-29-2007 03:04 PM

The suspense is killing us already. LOL Induce her! LOL Drive safe everyone. :)

shyykatt 04-30-2007 01:49 AM

Ya'll R funny!
I've been tellin' her everyday, "Its baby time!"- but she just looks at me and then waddles away. I usually pick out the registered name, my husband gets the 'barn name'- or 'pet name'; Tom says we are going to have to call it "May" if its a girl, b/c it should have been born in April!
It'll probably be 'Integritys something'- our farm name is Integrity Farm Arabians- other than that, I just want the dang thing to get here!!!! :D

shyykatt 05-10-2007 11:49 PM

FINALLY!!! Had us a colt last night- what a cutie! Will post pics when I get a chance :D :D :D Ima' happy 'grandma'

mapleleaf_1 05-11-2007 02:48 AM

  WAY TO GO SHY!! About time it came into the world. I hope is all well with Mama and baby, and of course Grandma too. LOL Looking forward to seeing a pic in the near future. Take care. Drive safe everyone. :)

shyykatt 05-11-2007 04:57 AM

Great News! Congrats all! Your new addition is beautiful

shyykatt 05-11-2007 09:32 AM

I'm havin' so much fun w/him, he is so friendly- foals are usually skittish for the first few days, not this lil' guy! :) :) (I only wish my husband could be here- hes on his way to CA and won't be home until the end of the month or so)

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...x/DSCN1277.jpg

mapleleaf_1 05-11-2007 02:44 PM

Have you chosen a name for him yet Shy?? Drive safe everyone. :)

shyykatt 05-12-2007 02:00 AM

Right now he is baby "Edge" (coz thats what we have been, waitin' for him to get here!) Not sure about his registered name yet. He's just like his daddy already, trying to bite me- so glad he does not have teeth yet!

Shawnee 05-18-2007 05:48 AM

That's great shyykatt, he is a beautiful little guy, I used to have horses, the last one I had had to be put down 2 years ago, when I quit driving OTR I would like to get another one

Jackrabbit379 05-19-2007 01:16 PM

Cool pictures, shyykatt. Congrats on the colt.

shyykatt 05-19-2007 01:20 PM

HaawHaaw! Yer funny- No, but shes been acting a bit depressed, so I asked her 'why such a long face?'

Jackrabbit379 05-19-2007 01:22 PM

Hehehe. Took me a minute, but I got it. :D I was like, well, she just popped out a baby. I would be too, but then thought about them having long faces. :? :P
