do office workers deal with this everyday? No does any industry other then drivers deal with this kind of scrutiny? not that I know of.... I think it will soon be time to find something different to do for a living....and not have to be under the scope all day by not only the people I work for but also the government... Everybody I know that works in an office, especially after working nights and transitioning into day-shift are always griping about the consistent micro-management found in many big offices. If anything, stick to the small-frys and small-towns and you'll be good, avoid "Californicated" places like the plague if you're looking to get out. |

Shoot, not around here with half the scales for POE. Coming into VA from the West on I-64, you don't get to a scale till you get to I-81, 100 miles into the state. Coming from the North around DC, depending on which way you come around the Capital it's 30 miles + to the first scale in VA. Coming from NC on 95 it's 40 miles. I-77 it's 52 miles out of NC.

If your running 64 all the way to the Tidewater area you dont have a scale until the 200 marker on 64 and thats on the outside of Richmond.....gotta love VA!! the only POE's Coops are the ones coming South out of Maryland on U.S 301 and U.S. 13 respectably

Don't let it fool you. I work WAY harder now than when I drove. I don't dispatch OTR but local and "yard" moves. Most of our "yard" moves are on an auto dispatch. You won't win much respect from a yard driver if he pulls an empty local trailer out of a door and drops it on the empty pad and then his very next move is an empty local trailer to a door 10 doors down from where he just pulled the empty out. I edit the move to do a door to door swap. Do one move and get credit for two. Drivers and upper management BOTH love it. Production reports don't lie. I go to bat for my drivers and they step up to the plate for me when needed. I look out for them and they look out for me. That is the way it has to be to make it work. We are a team, nothing less. |

It's amazing how far a thread can get hijacked.
