This week I was listening to a show on XM. I thought this was kind of interesting story about Joe francis, the guy from Girls Gone Wild. He called into the show from jail telling his story and what is happening to him. I can understand how people could be upset with him because of his movies but this is completely wrong. why would he be a flight risk? just because he has his own jet and millions of dollars. that doesnt mean anything. I'm sure he can be trusted.

he said he didnt know that you couldnt have drugs in jail because nobody told him. yea right, he is a lying piece of garbage and he deserves to be in jail, either that or let the fathers of the under-aged girls he duped have him, that would be fair and just punishment

So if a Judge tells you to settle a Civil lawsuit for $70,000,000 with 7 girls who lied about their age you should do it? Sounds more like extortion to me?

While I'm no fan of Joe, a judge can't ORDER you to settle. As a defendant you have the RIGHT to a trial either by judge or jury. ( Your chioce ). No I didn't read the story. Just setting the record straight on rights.

I dunno? You tell me? He wasn't present when the 7 girls signed release forms lying about their age. He wasn't there and he has never seen the tape.

I'm not a Joe Francis fan, I just don't agree with him sitting in jail for no reason. How would you like it if you were sued and without a trail a Judge ordered you to pay or go to jail?

Your right! As a defendant you have the RIGHT to a trial either by judge or jury and he was refused the right to receive a trial by a jury.

If these were your relatives who were CONNED/COERCED to do what basically comes down to child porn / delinquency of a minor and all other sorts of other crimes, this scumbag had the chance to pay a small fine (comparatively) and walk away clean to continue his scumbag ways. He needs to get raped in the jail a few times...then given the choice again. He's been playing this innocent game for far too long and he's not as cute nor charming to the rest of the world as he is to the kids he's scamming just take dirty picture of... He's just a pervert who makes money taking dirty pictures and thinks he will beat the rap by playing the victim...

Like I said before, I am NOT a fan at all, but this is about due process. Besides this is about a civil case, not a crminal case.

I can tell you from my own personal experience that spring break is not a place were innocent boys and girls gather to discuss Bible hymns and drink Koolaid, so I don't buy your idea "what if it was your relative who was conned/coerced" instead ask why these parents were so naive to what their daughters were doing? There are two reasons why young adults go to Florida for spring break, get drunk and get...... well you can fill in the blank.

the thing is, what you read was written by Joe Francis. it isnt fact, it's his side of the story, because you choose to believe him doesnt make everyone else dumb, it just means you believe his story, that doesnt mean the rest of us have to believe him

The story begins in Panama City, Florida in 2003. Panama City is a small, conservative town of 36,000 people. To promote it, a then 29 year old Joe Francis said in numerous TV appearances that it would be live from Panama City, Florida, South Padre Island, and Cancun. When Panama City Beach Mayor Lee Sullivan publicly announced that he would shut down the GGW event, calling Francis "scum-sucking trash", Francis proclaimed it was his First Amendment right to film Girls Gone Wild in Panama City and said he would do it anyway. The mayor of Panama City and Joe Francis participated in a widely publicized TV debate on Fox News Channel’s The Greta Van Susteren show. During this debate, it was alleged that Girls Gone Wild was an organized crime ring engaging in racketeering (RICO) with Francis heading it. The mayor also told Francis that if he stepped foot in his town he would be arrested. Francis then replied to the mayor that "you can come arrest me" but he wasn't breaking the law. Francis was not worried because Girls Gone Wild has been filming for years all over the United States without incident. In the First Amendment lawsuit Girls Gone Wild and Francis sued the city, as well as Mayor Lee Sullivan, Bay County Sheriff Guy Tunnel, and the Panama City Chief of Police Robert Harding, individually and in their official capacities. Local TV stations broadcast images of these individuals being served with papers. The law firm that represented Panama City, as well as the officials individually, was Harrison, Sale, McCloy, and Thompson, this becomes important later in the story. Panama City was forced to back off and settled Francis’ lawsuit.

I AM NOT A FAN OF JOE FRANCIS. This is just a matter of his right to due process. Wha happened to the right to a fair and speedy trial.

Fozzy, how do you feel about Joe Francis's rights being violated by the state of Florida?

Do you think it's wrong to persecute a man simply because of his affiliations and business dealings?
So do you feel that young women on spring break lose their inhibitions because they drink so much? or is it just poor morals? Do you think the city's that host "Spring Break" should clean up their act and not allow this to happen?

Let's make no mistake a 17 year old girl in college who is probably almost 18 anyways is hardly a young flower of innocence lacking knowledge of the world and sexual content , But you are trying to paint the picture of innocent young "children" having their innocence taken advatage of by a pervert with a camera...Not the case A Catholic priest molesting a 8 yrd boy and taking pictures = child porography /child molestation ...A permiscuous 17 yr old in college is hardly an innocent child ,and is hardly a victim when she decides to act out like herself infront of a camera with the knowledge of being filmed on spring break . I'm just having a hard time with associating college aged girls who run around screwing ,drinking ,And doing drugs freely on spring break as victims of "child pronography" because they willingly acted like ho's for the camera . ...And as for the guy being a smut merchant well that's not really your concern ,as you have the choice in America of not buying or watching the smut he peddles , But please don't try to put these college aged girls in light that potrays them as being innocent and unaware of their actions ... :wink:

Just because there is a market for it, it still doesn't make it legal, nor does this make the smut merchant less guilty. Just like some bar who serves underage people, they are liable under the law for serving minors. The local officials didn't want Joe filming in their town and publicly made a big deal out of it.

So when Joe legally shut them down, that publicly embarrassed them.

Anyone with any brains knows that once you've done something like that, it's time to get out of town and stay out of town. Because at that point, it doesn't matter what's legal or illegal, those guys are going to get you one way or another.
