Limbaughs "Magic Negro"..
Seems some people don't learn..
Home Blog: The Notion Rush's "Magic Negro" Routine BLOG | Posted 04/25/2007 @ 12:09pm Rush's "Magic Negro" Routine Adam Howard PERMALINK SEE ALL POSTS EMAIL THIS POST COMMENTS (203) Rush Limbaugh has obviously learned nothing from the outrage and anger unleashed by Don Imus' unfortunate "nappy headed ho's" remark. Never one to shy away from unfunny "humor", Limbaugh recently played a song parody on his radio show in which an Al Sharpton impersonator (played with stereotypical gusto) sings a song filled with idiotic assumptions about black people and dripping with ignorance called "Barack the Magic Negro". Perhaps this kind of garbage (set to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon") is someone's cup of tea. Limbaugh does have millions of listeners and they do adore of much of what the man says. Whether he's lampooning former President Clinton's daughter or suggesting Michael J. Fox is exaggerating the effects of his Parkinson's disease. So I don't expect his listeners to desert him over this. What does surprise me is that Vice President Dick Cheney among other major conservatives is still a regular guest on Limbaugh's show and I don't anticipate the kind of repudiations that Don Imus received over his transgression from him or anyone else on the right with regards to Limbaugh. It is true that Imus was chided because he was on a national cable news network and was perhaps less associated with being a provocateur than Limbaugh. But I still think Cheney and his ilk should refuse to appear on Limbaugh's show from now on. I wonder, will there be any outcry? Are people becoming so desensitized to this now that they just don't care about the inevitable phony apology and/or Al Sharpton protest. I'd like to see calls for Limbaugh's removal not just from the black community but from the supporters of the president and vice-president who are not racist, who don't find "jokes" like "Barack The Magic Negro" funny. But this will never, ever happen. Limbaugh's entire career and success is based on being petty and juvenile, so one more stupid act will most likely change nothing. Personally, I'm just disheartened that so soon after the Imus controversy came and went the so-called shock jocks and right wing nuts went right back to business as usual, didn't blink an eye and continued to use racism to insult and humiliate. Well gee.. too bad Rush was just quoting a newspaper article at the time... It was of course a liberal newspaper that used the term so I guess they just get a pass for coining the phrase?
Here's the OP Ed piece from the LA Times OP ED section: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/...opinion-center |
I am not a fan of Imus, but I think it is a shame that a man's career could come to an end for a few words said out of hand. There have been much worse things said by others. Rush Limbaugh has had parody's for many years. He doesn't discriminate. He tends to be an equal opportunity offender. I have heard some on the far left of the political equation say much worse on the air and nothing has been said. I think it is past time for people to stop taking themselves so seriously. There are some people such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who do what they can to stir things up. They make a living out of encouraging others to become victims. I would like to see the airwaves cleaned up, but I see no need to pick on one guy. These rappers are worse than any of these talk show people. If it is wrong for one it should be wrong for all of them. These people need to get a life.

Rush is trying to get his name back in the spotlight (and it worked), but he's smart enough not to go too far where he will lose his job. Rush has die-hard fans though, he could get away with anything.

I think a lot of people are going to start waking up to "The Reality of HUSSEIN Obama" quite quickly. After all, if you want to know what kind of person someone is, then look at whom they associate with. You have Obama hanging out with such paragons of Black Virtue as Ludacris, who advocates sexism, violence on women, "Thug"-life violence in general, liberal use of the "F"-word in his music as well as the frequent use of the "N"-word in every song. Do a GOOGLE search for some of the lyrics to this thug's music and you'll see what I mean.
Senator Obama, rapper Ludacris meet for a chat "We talked about empowering the youth," said rapper http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15972471/ "Empowering the youth," indeed? Not hard to see what particular racial group of "youth" they are talking about, and judging from the lyrics to some of that thug's music, I'm sure they weren't chatting about singing "Cumbaya" around the campfire. This guy is pandering to the lowest kinds of scum and mire of Black Culture, the "Hip Hop" crowd, in order to get votes? Is this the kind of guy YOU want as President? Then, you also have Obama "kickin' it" recently with his homie Al Sharpton of the Tawana Brawley and Duke LaCrosse Players fame... (gee, where is Sharpton's dismissal and apologies to the WHITE community? This guy is simply the Black David Duke, but it's sad that this race-baiter has a certain kind of legitimacy in contemporary American culture just because of the color of his skin, even though his opinions and viewpoint are just as outrageous as Duke's, but just from the other side of the spectrum.). Just for good measure sometime, go and check out the official website of Obama's church. http://www.tucc.org/about.htm Do a GOOGLE search on "Obama's Church" if you don't believe me, and then go back and simply replace “Black” with “White”.... and ask yourself the simple question, “Why is it OK to say One and Not the Other in Contemporary America??” Now, again I ask you, is this the kind of person YOU want as President of the United States of America? |

Here's the OP Ed piece from the LA Times OP ED section: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/...opinion-center The L.A. Times may BE liberally biased, so what? There are others that are Conservative mouthpieces as well. Most major papers, and even my local one, include OP ED pieces from BOTH sides. Point is, once again you misinterpret, and betray your OWN bias. The Times didn't "coin" the phrase. Neither did the author himself (who is biased against his own kind.) He clearly stated (although he based it on something he read in Wikipedia, which is NOT a true and unbiased source,) that the phrase was: ....coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, The parody itself, although not rising to the level of "hate speech," is clearly racial, and the fact that Rush finds it humorous and plays it on his show (over public airwaves) is absolutely NO different than what Imus did, and clearly shows not only his Conservative bias, but also his racial bias. Anyone who defends him over it, has done the same. |

I SAID I hadn't heard the song. I SAID I try NOT to listen to Rush. But, I see snippets of his show on the news all the time, because he is ALWAYS saying something stupid and controversial! I've seen ENOUGH of him to know what he does, and what he says. Is that enough for you? I don't talk about things about which I know nothing. I have followed Rush's "sordid" career over the years. He is a Conservative BlowHard! He couldn't have an original idea or opinion if he gave BIRTH to it! He's a MOUTHPIECE! (and a drug addict!) So, without hearing the parody, I KNOW what it would sound like, and I think it is VILE and Hateful. Without seeing/hearing Rush's show on which he PROUDLY played it, I know it was INTENTIONALLY and maliciously "ordained" for the purpose of furthering his racist beliefs, and anti Democratic agenda. This was not an "off the cuff" GAFF, like Imus's remark. This was PROGRAMMED to be "aired." Do you see the difference?? The very GOOD people of this country, who happen to be of a conservative mind and live in the "red" states, are being POISONED by people like Rush, who believe (or at least are paid to SPOUT) that all Democrats are Liberal Commies, and that we must support BUSH no matter HOW MANY lives are lost in his personal war of revenge and glory. And, to bolster his viewpoint, and gain support, he makes fun of, and ridicules Democrats for, "accepting" as equal citizens the Blacks in this country! He doesn't MAKE the laws, and neither do I! But, there are laws in this country that give equal protection and rights to ALL races!! Conservatives have a problem with this ideal, MOSTLY because they listen ONLY to people like RUSH! Between the SIX* of them, they couldn't FIND a Black in their part of the country!! I KNOW this..... cuz I drive through it every week! So, having never been out of THEIR little corner of the world, they BELIEVE this B.S. and VOTE accordingly! They are nothing less than modern day "McCarthyists!" Afraid of their own shadow because it is Black! To answer your question.... I can have an opinion on anything that I KNOW something about! I know Rush for the two-faced, hypocritical drug using, neocon sucking PIG that he IS! And I'm no fan of Al Sharpton, either! But, if I hear there is a parody song out there, using an imitator to SOUND like Sharpton.... I KNOW where that is going! Can YOU understand that? |

Golfhobo is sooooo full of it on this issue. Typical though. You hear snippets "all the time" on the news (thats BS by the way)and therefor are an expert on what Rush Limbaugh stands for and all of his listeners are racists and bigots? Please! This is so intellectually dishonest as to be laughable.
|
I wonder how much lower Rushs ratings would be if it werent for all the liberals listening to him all day just waiting for him to say something "terrible" so they have something to whine about.
As far as the "magic negro" thing. I havent heard it. I did read the LA Times article written by a black journalist which called Obama the "magic negro". Also I do know the term Magic Negro was coined by Spike Lee. People need to lighten up, Rush wasnt being racist, it was a parody making fun of what the LA Times reporter wrote and the term Spike Lee created. Also I would like to think all of Rushs loyal liberal listeners who occasionally fill us in what was on his show. Being that Im a Conservative and work everyday, I dont have time to listen. |
I happened to have been in a truck without my XM and caught the show the day all of this started..the only AM station that carries anything but Mexican music out in the boonies on Hwy 70 between Lone Grove and Randlett, OK is WBAP 820 and they are about all there is. This day's show was obviously before the parody song was written so I have not heard the song.
Rush read the LA Times OP ED and within minutes, the leftists started calling crying about what "RUSH said". They did not care that the article which was being read from was from a liberal newspaper and liberal writer (race baiter). Rush basically used the term and stated without a doubt that in a given period of time, the story would come out that HE was responsible for the whole title and that he'd be blamed. |

There may be enough in that statement to lose a lawsuit for slander. At least it was in past periods of our history where spreading easily verifiable lies was not considered "free speech". |

I'm not saying Rush was clever enough to have composed it, but his playing it was certainly an editorial decision which clearly shows HIS bias, not only against blacks in general, but also against ANY Democratic hopeful. The Times didn't "coin" the phrase. Neither did the author himself (who is biased against his own kind.) He clearly stated (although he based it on something he read in Wikipedia, which is NOT a true and unbiased source,) that the phrase was: The parody itself, although not rising to the level of "hate speech," is clearly racial, and the fact that Rush finds it humorous and plays it on his show (over public airwaves) is absolutely NO different than what Imus did, and clearly shows not only his Conservative bias, but also his racial bias. Anyone who defends him over it, has done the same. The author of the Times article uses the term, nobody says a word. Rush uses the term, and holy hell breaks loose. Why the difference? Likely because the writer is himself black (and as such cannot be racist, according to the left) and liberal (meaning he of course hold the "correct" ideology, according to liberals). But Rush, well he is white, which means he could be a racist, and he is conservative, which means he definitely is a racist, and rich and influential while being conservative, which means he is evil (because we all know that rich influential liberals are never evil bigoted homophobes - just ask them!) And incidentally, I fail to see why there was a flap about what Imus said either. It was more stupid than racist, and in this country, the Constitution guarantees anyone's right to be stupid. He was trying to be funny, and failed miserably. Big f*****g deal. Like nobody who is criticising him has ever said anything stupid, especially when trying to be funny! Morons. |

There is so much fun stuff here from golf hobo that we all could pick apart. However, I will just pick some highlights.
He's a MOUTHPIECE! (and a drug addict!) JFK = Junkie with nukes Rush= Junkie with a microphone Which is worse? Hell, Obama is an admitted junkie. Let me guess, you democrats give him a pass because he is black and anyone that points out that Obama is an admitted junkie is just being racist. Am I right? Conservatives have a problem with this ideal, MOSTLY because they listen ONLY to people like RUSH! Between the SIX* of them, they couldn't FIND a Black in their part of the country!! I KNOW this..... cuz I drive through it every week! As far as black people in my part of the country. I have a black guy who lives a few doors down from me. He is a VP at Walmart Corporate. He earned the ability to live in my neighborhood. Just like any person of any race, anyone is welcome to move into my neighborhood, they just have to be able to afford it. Here is a huge difference between liberals and conservatives. You liberals think I should lower the value of my neighborhood so more "disadvantaged" people can move in. Conservatives like me feel I should keep my neighborhood like it is and ENCOURAGE those who cant afford to live there to EARN their own way. NO SPECIAL TREATMENT! And, to bolster his viewpoint, and gain support, he makes fun of, and ridicules Democrats for, "accepting" as equal citizens the Blacks in this country! Funny that it seems the most "democrat" areas of the country have the highest populations of poor minority people in lower class neighborhoods. My area is very GOP and yet the blacks in my area are educated and middle and upper middle class....we dont have a ghetto here....also strange that they tend to vote GOP. Funny how that works. Guess what, golf? We welcome those successful blacks into the GOP. Conservatism ISNT ABOUT RACE....IT IS ABOUT PEOPLE BEING SELF SUPPORTING. Its about solving and overcoming your own problems. Not expecting the gov or the taxpayers to solve them for you. Personally, I think the most racist thing you can say to a minority is "Here, have some free money for doing nothing, we know you cant earn it by yourself". Sorry, the liberals corner the market on that way of thinking. |
Some funny stuff here.
|
Okay.... got my 'golf fix' today.... so feeling much better now... thankyouverymuch!
Now "some" of you know how "some" of us feel when we're all lumped together as "Liberals." 8) Gotta go truckin'!!! |

He's a MOUTHPIECE! (and a drug addict!) BFD. |
Yep, Rush got addicted to painkillers. So? He is an Entertainer. When Brett Farve became addicted to the same pain killers and had to go to treatment, I didnt stop watching football. I promise if Rush ever runs for office, I wont vote for him. Why do you democrats like to vote for drug addicts Well, Brett Favre didn't go out and buy painkillers and then tell people, people who buy drugs should go to jail. Thats just being a hypocrit. |
Well... I didn't go trucking this week. I checked myself into Rehab, instead! Yep... it seems I'd been watching WAY too much FoxNews channel, and it was destroying my life.
It seems I wasn't REALLY so upset with Rush after all! I was just SICK with the toxic input from Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter, and frustrated by Bill O'Reilly's "almost" rational opinions, offered up to cloak his obvious hatred of anyone Liberal. :x The counselors told me that I MUST have a more "fair and balanced" diet of opinion and editorialism, and that I should avoid the "triggers" that I get whenever I listen to these mindless idiots. Apparently, according to the doctors, I have a malignant growth in my brain, known as "independent thought," that becomes aggravated when subjected to a constant barrage of talking points and propanganda parroted by these "Bush Lackeys," and it causes me to lose my normal ability to separate the "good" Conservatives from the evil minions and dittoheads. As part of my therapy, I must apologize for lumping ALL my good Conservative friends in with these vile, hateful, partisan trashtalking Azzh@les!! :D That's what happens when I drink too much (of the wrong Koolaid!) Hobo |
Well, Brett Favre didn't go out and buy painkillers and then tell people, people who buy drugs should go to jail. Thats just being a hypocrit. As far as your hypocrite statement......So, by your way of thinking only a person who uses drugs and tells people that using drugs is a good thing would be a good person. Like I said in my earlier post....Obama is an admitted junkie. So if he during the campaign mentions that the nation has a drug problem, that would make him a hypocrite? Can Teddy Kennedy tell people that drinking and driving is a bad thing? |
Sheepdancer:
Just so I can keep up, could you give me a link, or at least fill me in on this admission by Obama to being a Junkie? Sorry, but I've been OTR. Thanks, Hobo |
