today is over! finally!
lets see how today went for me.
1. sat in traffic all morning.
2. arrived 45 min late for my appointment
3. while opening the trailer doors i find i have 1 bad tire
4. call road service
5. while giving the truck a good look over discover i might have a brake problem.
6. tire guy finally shows trying to make me pay for a whole tire when i just needed a tube. (rail container)
7. in a very annoyed state i called to see if my MC numbers are active.
MC numbers are active. (only good news today)
8. while at the amazing flying j in winchester va, after sitting on line because people decide to just take 45 min to stay inside and not move, i finally get to the island. as i'm putting the key in my fuel caps to unlock them the truck jumps about 6 inches. look up the dog is all confused i look back.. a coverdent driver decided to stand up and not have his brake on while hitting the back of my trailer. no damage done to trailer so no harm no foul.
9. finish my last load
10. drop the truck off to get looked at
11. order food
12. come home to eat and find out that its disgusting.
its bed time. lol

It sounds like you had quite a day. I haven't stopped at that Flying J in some time. You have just given me a few more reasons why I should not stop.

That Flying J is *ALWAYS* backed up. Luckily, I don't fuel there often.
I had a pretty crappy day yesterday too. Actually started 2 days ago. Started out in Berkely Springs, WV. The load was going to Oshawa, Ont with a set appointment for a live unload. Started seeing snow/sleet just north of the PA turnpike. Of course, the trailer was heavy as hell and you know how fun US 219 can be with a heavy trailer. When I got close to Hamilton, Ont the snow was getting heavier, but traffic wasn't too horrible. Made it to my delivery 5 minutes early and found out it was a drop/hook. No preplan, so went to Bowmanville, Ont for the night.
Woke up yesterday morning to a truck covered in solid ice. Got a preplan to go to Buffalo to swap trailers with another driver and take it to Alliston, Ont. Got to the truckstop and sat for an hour waiting on the other truck, only to find out he was actually in Pembroke, NY. Went there, got the trailer and had to wait about 2hrs for the load to clear customs. Finally cleared and headed for Alliston, which took me right back through Toronto.
Got the load up there (drop/hook). Hooked to my other trailer, but it was frozen to the ground and the tractor was sitting on solid ice. Took about 45 minutes to get the truck to finally move. Back into Toronto, this time at 4pm. Ya - that's a joy. It always amazes me how a wreck on the opposite side of the highway can cause a backup on both sides of the road...
Was supposed to pick up a load yesterday @ 5pm in Port Huron, MI. I made it to the truckstop in Wyoming, Ont, which is about 20 miles from the border. When I parked, I had 30 minutes left on my 14hr clock. Got up this morning to head to Port Huron and got lost trying to find the shipper. Finally made it here (24/7 drop-hook facility) to find out that I have to wait until 7am to get my paperwork.
This load is going to Nashville and is scheduled to deliver on Monday morning. So, have to talk to dispatch today to see where they want me to drop it.

Why would you run 219 when there's a perfectly good Interstate highway?

gman its the worst.. what bothers me is that there is no reason for it to be backed up! all though. it is surprisingly clean.

That happens all the time on 81 in VA. If traffic on one side is even slightly backed up in an area where the opposite side can see them, they will then slow down and rubberneck thinking something might be over there that they can see.
