ONTARIO, Calif. — Ontario police say two people have been arrested after a trucker was fatally shot during an apparent robbery and crashed his big-rig on a freeway onramp.
Police say the 52-year-old driver was shot in the chest and his truck ran up an embankment on an Interstate 10 ramp around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The driver, who was from the Central California town of Ivanhoe, crawled from the cab and collapsed. Two other men also fled the cab.
Police say a blood-spattered man was arrested at around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Another man was found two hours later at a nearby car dealership. A gun was recovered.
Detective Jeff Crittenden says it's unclear whether the men were working with the driver or were hitchhikers.
