I've never seen ice fishing. That was interesting. How did he keep the fishing line from cutting his hands/fingers? He said that it probably weighed over 20lbs, but the way he was bringing it in, it didn't look like he had anything on there. Are trout not fighters?

Catch them in the middle of summer, and they put up a pretty good fight. The cold water slows them down, and the fatter they are, the less they fight. More like trying to pull a sunken log out of the water.
The crappies are really good eating, and so are the walleye. I enjoyed going after Northern Pike and Musky. Get a big musky on the line, with 20# test, and there's no fight at all. You might as well hook your line on to the back bumper of a car. They simply go. Northern give you a good fight, summer or winter.
Down here, the fun is trying to bring in a grouper. Or a shark. Blue crab is another one that "can" be brought in with a line and hook, but it doesn't happen very often.
Now, if you want a REAL experience, up north, just take your VEHICLE out on the ice. Then, listen to the ice crack while you're driving on it.:lol2::clap:

By the way, if you go to about 1.35 minutes on that video, he did get a "string cut".

I didn't even think about that. Yeah, they don't fight near as much when they are cold.

Yeah.. I didn't notice the first time. I was wondering. I thought, "Man..if that was me, I'd be cut up to pieces." I've cut my fingers just by tieing the knot.

The one I had hooked must not have gotten the memo.

That was one nice fish! Give the guy credit...he didn't just toss it back without letting it get straight with itself! That was most impressive!

Never had a problem unhooking the ones I've caught. Once they're on solid land, you can put a shoe on either side of them, upside down, and do what you like.
But, you know that the "wings" of a stingray are what they make fake scallops out of? And, I really don't care if they're real of fake, mighty tasty going down.
