5+ accident free years as a Swifty ????:rofl::rofl:

You must be on line 5 today for making that statement.... That would be the only explanation for it.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have 5+ years (DOH was 1/03/04), with very little skid pad experience. I have one parking lot preventable (pigtail junction box) due primarily to the presence of a witness. I also have one loading dock non-preventable. The guy was sitting in his Driver's seat holding my right trailer door flush to the trailer body as I was pulling out . . it was that (day cab and/or 48' designed) tight. Pier 7 (?) in South Seattle. You go between two grey buildings, around the warehouse and the docks are on the waterside, in case you're familiar. We had arranged a signal; he was to blow his horn in ADVANCE of contact. Unfortunately, the forklift bouncing around in his trailer depleted his air and thus, no horn! I tore his mirror off. I blamed him, I had no damage and they never filed a claim.

I have met plenty of Drivers who claim millions of accident free miles, including the USExpress Driver who backed into me at the Pilot in Nitro, WV. If I've been bumped into 15 times (maybe more) at a T/S, only once was it an immediately recognizable carrier . . Stevens.

I wouldn't consider you for a second! Flowers? Plus, I start to feel a little claustrophobic if I spend too much time in one region. I will send you my phone number when I get headed that way . . it will be after 04/15 and mandatory chains.

That's ok as you do not have enough experience to work for me..... Plus I do not hire anyone who has made less than 50k a year in previous employment.

Also we don't haul flowers either......

I am sure that you can convey to your dispatcher that you won't run the mountains or throw iron......:rofl:

Quote: Letting Swift certify and issue a cdl to their lil swifties after " training " is like the fox watching the hen house.....
And HOW is this worse than the gov't "grandfathering" in tens of thousands of drivers who learned to drive a few pieces of FARM equipment and got a Chauffeur's license?

I'm not disparaging those who grew up driving anything with wheels, Heck... I'm one of them! [though, NOT a farmboy.] I got my "combination truck" training from a CDL mill who WAS a certified 3rd party tester, and have NO IDEA if they met the state's standards or not. My first job was a TEAM company who classified me as a "trainee" for the first 4 weeks, and the "trainer" was in the bunk from the moment he realized that I could handle the rig. Sure, there were lots of "discussions" about little things I should know but, I didn't NEED to have my hand held, and he KNEW it. If he'd felt differently, I'm sure he would have spent more time in the jumpseat.

I understand your point about the fox and the henhouse. A large company, with lots of contracted runs to service, needs drivers.... and MIGHT be willing to cut corners to fill those seats. But, with insurance rates and control to consider, I doubt they cut TOO many corners! And trucks ain't CHEAP to replace, either!

If Swift had an excessively negative safety rating, I'm SURE they would draw the attention of the government watchdogs. And I see no evidence that they HAVE.

When one thinks of a BBR, one usually thinks of an O/O. Wonder why THAT is? Ungoverned trucks? Unsupervised training? Loose leaf logs?

Yes, I ran that icy road in Texas that day with Windy, (from the other end) and the ONLY truck name I recognized, of the 10 wrecks I saw, was the Yellow Freight truck. In 3.5 years on the road, the majority of the trucks "broke down" on the side of the road were surely independents or small fleet trucks!

When I see a "MEGA" truck on the road, I KNOW what to expect. It is the "independents" that really get my attention! But, then again... I watch ALL trucks with suspicion. That is part of my job. But, I have to say, considering their "numbers," I have had far less trouble from Swift drivers than I have from all the others.

And, having never BEEN through Swift training, I have no other basis for an opinion of it.

Do YOU?

What time does the Swift Special Backing Olympics start today ????

Swift's driver mantra : " How much damage have you done today ? "
What have you got to hide? Your internet reputation is at stake, here.

There is no start time. It's a process. There is so much stuff out there we haven't hit yet, so we're at it 24/7, pretty much.

It's more of a "I think I can . . I think I can . . I . . oops" kind of a thing.

I will to get out of trouble. I won't to get into trouble. Remember, I trained on the Costco and heavy haul fleets the winter of '04, then drove them extensively. I love the mountains, the passes and the challenges. At 51, the idea of chaining as a matter of routine necessity just doesn't appeal to me. I just drove from Dayton, OH to Waterloo, IA with some degree of snow and ice the whole way . . but no chaining.

Work smarter, not harder.

No, you are NOT me. You could never BE me. I am not agreeing with anyone... I am making my own observations. If some of THEM agree with me, that is their problem.

I didn't say I'd SEEN any Swift training. What is your point? I said I'd never been THROUGH their training, and I doubt YOU have either.

I think you're having enough trouble dodging MY questions. Why would you think I need their help?

Perhaps, you just think you can get over on them more easily. I really haven't seen that so far.

I'm still waiting for an answer as to what kind of "certification" YOU have for YOUR training for your drivers.... or for what kind of training YOU received?

How 'bout we give Swift a break and start ragging on USXpress drivers? That should bring some of THEM out of the woodwork and increase the post count on CAD.

Oh, but THEN you wouldn't have a reason to post, would you? You'd be almost as silent as when you were banned. And Lord knows, we all MISSED you! NOT. :lol2:

Sorry, BigD, but you have really piqued my curiosity. I can't help wondering whether YOU received PTDI training, or whether you just got "grandfathered" in. You seem to be an EXPERT on training criteria. But, you won't answer my questions. Hiding something?

Could it BE that ALL you know about driving a truck you learned in Kindergarten? Along with ALL you know about life? Could it BE that you are a closet intellectual with disdain for anyone who is not? And you can't allow that anyone else could be as good at this as YOU?

If so, I feel your pain, and understand you now. Sort of. No.... that's a lie. If you were an intellectual, you could respond in a manner that you have YET to do.

No, I think I'll just continue to tag you as a BBR, small fleet O/O, who thinks he knows everything and is intent on perpetrating that illusion through condescension.
