I kinda believe Snopes possible explaination for the "incident". I cannot see how the truck could have hit the slope at 55mph or more without damaging the tractor, especially with the angle of that slope. And then to get the whole tractor on top of the berm (sp) and onto the tracks, he would have had to be airborne for a moment to get the entire tractor on the tracks. no damage to the tractor.
Also, no tracks leading up to the slope, expect for the tow trucks.

But Im just playing detective and guessing.

I just took a closer look at the pictures, There is some very serious hood and fender damage to the tractor, (maybe he did try and drive it up the slope), It would be interesting to know what really happened.
Maybe Google the newspapers for the Manitoba area for March 2007

Fozzy,

Not meaning to hijack the thread here, but I saw your tag line announcing your son's upcoming deployment.

There are times when we agree, and then there are times when we don't. That's okay, it would get pretty dull pretty quickly if everyone agreed on everything all of the time.

One thing that I hope all of us can agree to do will be to keep your son in our prayers, intentions, and meditations.

I have added him to my list!! Hopefully, the day will come when all of this will be behind us.

Peace,
Bill

Well, thank you very much... This will be a trying time for the entire family. I support what he is doing and why he is doing it and of course (from what I post here and everywhere else) I support the mission. He is with a fine bunch and he is growing in the job to be a heck of a leader. We all hope everything works out for him and his teammates. Time will tell and fate is what it is.

My thoughts are with you as well, Fozzy. If he has to be going it's good that he is going with the best. The 101st was top notch when I was with them in the 70's and I'm sure it's only gotten better with time. Hope everything turns out well.

BTW what is his MOS?

Well, like his father.. he qualified for anything yet volunteered to go into the 11B stuff. I tried to get him to get some training in something else and then go to combat arms, but of course, he's too much like me and has been wanting to do this from the time he was a pup. I am VERY proud of him. He is my hero for knowing about what was coming and doing it anyway.

I went to Benning for his graduation and that was pretty weird, It seemed like such a short time ago, I was there. It was really special seeing my kid "turn blue" and then graduate into the club. I got to put the blue cord on his shoulder myself.

He is planning on going to Ranger school when he gets back from Iraq.. he's already passed pre-Ranger. Dang! I've hijacked my own thread!

Hey Fozzy, even though I'm a noob around here give your best to your son. He's headed out on the day of my 43rd birthday.
