TSMT was founded in 1929 by Cloyd B. Jeans and Denver Merrick. The company’s original team began transporting explosives to powder mills located throughout the Southwest Missouri region in support of zinc and lead mining which was prominent at that time.
Merrick left in 1931 and a new partner, Carl Ivie, joined the company and the name was changed to Tri-State Motor Transport Company. In 1960, the current company name, Tri-State Motor Transit Co. wasadopted.
Since the company’s formation, we have remained dedicated to the safest, most dependabletransportation of specialty materials, explosives and hazardous freight.
