    Default MTC and Star

I am planning on going to the MTC training school in St. Louis, MO and drive for Star Transportation out of Nashville, TN. Just wondering if anyone has any type of experience there and what it was like. Also I am trying to find some UPDATED information about Star Transportation but I can't find anything. Thanks.

I JUST talked with a Star driver tonight, randomly getting into the conversation, at the place i work at now. He said he went to MTC and it was a school that taught him nothing.
He said the Star company was OK, has it's ups and downs but he liked the company.

I was thinking of going to c-1 truck training myself.

MTC out of Hazelwood Mo. as far as I know deals with Star out of Morton Il. I went to MTC last July, lots of people there were there for MONTHS. I was in and out in 16 days. Just apply yourself and you will pull through. I would find out for sure what star co you are being told of, I live in Tennessee and had inquired about that one and they said they dont deal with them.

Ok well i called Star Transportation Directly the one in Nashville TN, They said they have a terminal in Knoxville so i could take the truck home and they try to get you home every weekend which is good. But I haven't talked to MTC yet because last time i called them there computers were down or something. Ill call them again and see whats going on.

Look ito c-1 truck driver training. http://www.c-1truckdrivertraining.com/
Three week program, gets you all your certificates besides a few, hazmat is included in that. Cost of the program is $4995, and they deal with CRST mostly but you don't HAVE to drive for CRST. I'm signing up for MCT trucking and going to C-1, who will pay for the schooling.
From what I heard about mtc driver training, it's fast, gets you out the door, with nothing but a cdl and no real-world knowledge.

lol about fast.. they said 14 - 16 days... already 18 days.. gonna be 20 before I will possiblely go to cdl... also I have the highest gpa in class.. got 104 on pretrip, 90 on yard, 91 on road... i'm getting jacked around because joan sucks at scheduling cdl apointments and this place is just a money mill 40 students per class, not enough places to test for cdl.. the instuctors like to rely on the students to get ya through the yard and pretrip, on the road your put in a beat up **** truck with a peed on matress and some throw away couch cushions..

5 students per truck.. 30 mins each.. hell the students 10 percent are dumb as rocks, 20 percent do not belong behind a wheel but they dont seem to care about nothing but the benjamins

    Default MTC

I was there 2 years ago. The equipment wasnt the greatest (When I went to CDL the TRUCK didn't pass the pretrip so I couldnt take road test that day) I agree that the scheduling sux there I also spent days waiting to go to CDL. However, it sounds like they had a turnover in staff because the instructors were nice and helpful I thought. Is Phil still there he seemed like a good guy when I was there?

LoL phil is a good guy but all in all MTC does really suck to many students and not enough trucks and teachers. They have 3 trucks in the yard and 3 on the road. I had one off the road trucks break down on me in the middle of the road in front of the school. So we drove this old volve yellow junker that grinded gears was a POS. Teachers there in the yard werent worth a crap expect for bill other than that all they care about is making money. Best thing to do is get friends with some guys and plow through the class. You almost have to work together cause you will never pass probaly.

I was one of those people who signed the dotted line, I drive for hogan, I signed up and went to school so I could go to star. But on graduation day they said star declined me so I was stuck with hogan.

I'm not to fond of the contract and the way the loan is set up.

And still to this day im always saying to myself what if I stay and stuck it out. I know a few guys at hogan that I went to school with.

I'm not sure how much I like hogan, My guess is the things they do to upset me are the same as the other companies out there.. Lets just say I'm saving my money... been driveing less then 4 months have 6400 saved..

I'm not sure if I like OTR trucking or trucking in general.
