I just got tired of OTR ... but I may have to return. I drove 14 months for Arrow ... and now I'm taking a rest in Northern Cal.

1. I'd like to find a relatively decent company in either Nevada (I'd love a Reno to Las Vegas run ... *chuckle* ... I don't drink or gamble ... and Lot Lizzards aren't my thing ... but a mildly colorful winter on a run like that sounds interesting.)

2. ... or any where in California or the place of my future home ... South Carolina.

3. I'm interested in weathering both the winter and the current economic woes ... so I'm not expecting a whole lot ... just a company that treats it's drivers with something close to basic human decency. (I may be asking for TOO much with that one ...)

Suggestions?

Try looking at foodservice distribution companies with a dedicated Vegas run. Someone has to keep all those buffets stocked.

Local should allow u to live a normal lifestyle. Where im at i work 8-12 hours a day then go home. In at 4 home by 4 on the latest. Hourly. Nothing better then taking a shit and a shower in ur own house

Why K....You might look at Linde/BOC in Sacramento. Feederfred went to work there...to fill out his retirement...or regain so sanity. (Retirement from UPS must have bored him or something) That would be mostly local work...with some overnights.

I just gave up my tanker job to start in with a US Mail contractor. Twice a week runs to detroit, paid by the hour. Leave at 5AM, back home by noon the next day. but you gotta run like clockwork.

Mostly because I got bored....and for the health insurance for (ahem) some family members that just can't seem to leave the nest...and to supplement my pension. Should of waited a tad longer, but I thought 31 years @Brown was enough. We just hired 3 people this week. We go as far as Vancouver, WA., Reno/Elko, but it's all in the course of your "regular" 5 day work week. Also Northern California and Southern Oregon. Anything north of Klamath Falls comes out of Vancouver. As posted in another thread, you do work nights and weekends when you are on the "bottom of the board"..I kind of like nights though, in/out, no crowded parking lots and a lot less BS. We transfer a lot of liquid argon to Vancouver when they run low. Drive up, park in the plant (Linde's), go to hotel while plant fillers unload it into storage, drive back empty, no problems....
